Heres a little bio on Patrick to get your questions flowing:
Professor Patrick Western is proof that science can take you around the world! From starting with animal model research here in Melbourne, to completing his PhD in the USA, continuing as a postdoctoral researcher in the UK, and eventually returning to Melbourne to establish and lead his own lab group, Patrick has certainly collected a few frequent flyer points along the way.
Now balancing life as Head of Graduate Research and leader of a busy research lab, Patrick somehow still finds time for bushwalking, camping, and showing off his cooking skills now and then. Whether you’re interested in research pathways, life in academia, or just want to know how many coffees it takes to run a lab, this is a session you won’t want to miss!

Three minute thesis (3MT) is a fun event to share your research to a broad audience. Make sure to sign up for round 1 of 3MT if you’re a student in Molecular and Translational Sciences, Paediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Departments. Even if you are not presenting, come to watch and support your peers present their amazing talks!
A light lunch of sushi and fruits will be provided on the day 🍣🍇
