YEAR 6 LOWANNA TRANSITION DAY
On Wednesday this week our Year 6 students had the opportunity to visit Lowanna College for a Transition Day, giving them a taste of what secondary school life will be like.
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of classes including Maths, PE, English and Science, experiencing different learning environments and getting to know some of the teachers at the College.
The day also provided students with an opportunity to explore the school campus, become familiar with the facilities and learn their way around. Experiences like these are a valuable part of the transition to secondary school, helping students build confidence and feel more comfortable about the changes ahead.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6 students to experience a little slice of secondary school life as they prepare for the next exciting chapter of their education!

Book Week Parade – A Symphony of Stories!
What a fantastic morning we had celebrating Book Week 2026 with our annual Book Week Dress Up Parade!
This year’s theme, “Symphony of Stories,” certainly came to life, with our students arriving dressed as an incredible collection of favourite book characters. From much-loved classics to modern favourites, there was plenty of colour, creativity and imagination on display.
It was wonderful to see so many students embracing the spirit of Book Week and proudly parading their costumes for everyone to enjoy. A big thank you also goes to our families for helping create costumes, supporting the morning and joining us for the parade. We loved having so many parents and carers there to share in the fun!
Of course, everyone who came dressed in costume also earned House Points for their house.
Book Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and the stories that inspire, entertain and transport us to entirely different worlds.
Enjoy some of our favourite photos from this morning’s parade!

# # 🌱 Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program 🥕🍅

We are excited to be part of the **Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program**, giving our students the opportunity to learn about growing, harvesting, preparing and enjoying fresh, seasonal food.

Through our **Kitchen Garden Program**, students are involved in hands-on learning experiences in our school garden and outdoor kitchen. They learn where food comes from, how to grow and care for fresh produce, and how the ingredients they harvest can be transformed into delicious meals.

The program is about much more than gardening and cooking. Students develop practical life skills while building their confidence, teamwork, independence and understanding of healthy food choices. It also provides wonderful opportunities to connect learning across areas such as science, sustainability, mathematics, literacy and health.

One of the highlights is seeing students experience the complete **garden-to-plate journey**: planting a tiny seed, caring for it as it grows, harvesting the produce, preparing a meal and, of course, enjoying the results together! 🌱➡️🍽️

We are proud to provide our students with these meaningful, hands-on learning experiences and look forward to sharing more of what is growing and cooking in our Kitchen Garden throughout the year.

Bike Ed
Across our first session on Monday this week, students jumped straight into developing control with their bike skills, building confidence and, most importantly, having a go!
Our students worked on starting and stopping, steering, balance, bike control and looking behind while maintaining control.
Perhaps the very best part of the day was seeing students challenge themselves.
We had students who were riding for the very first time, students who were nervous but decided to try anyway, and students who kept practising even when things didn't go according to plan.
At ASPS, Bike Ed isn't just about learning to ride. It's about developing independence, resilience, confidence, decision-making and safe habits that students can carry with them well beyond the school gates.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced the challenge and supported one another, and we look forward to what week two will bring.
