JSR became a living Symphony of Stories as students and staff filled the campus with colour, creativity and imagination for this year's Book Week Parade.

From favourite book characters and literary heroes to inventive and creative costume designs, it was wonderful to see students proudly parading through the School and sharing their love of reading with friends, teachers and families.
The excitement on the faces of our Primary students was a wonderful reminder of the important role stories play in inspiring curiosity, creativity and learning.

This year's Book Week theme, Book an Adventure: A Symphony of Stories, was reflected throughout the day as students and staff worked together to create a celebration where every costume became part of a larger story, and every participant contributed to the vibrant atmosphere across the School.

A sincere thank you to our families whose creativity, planning and effort helped bring so many fantastic costumes to life. The time and care that goes into creating these outfits each year play a significant role in making Book Week such a special occasion for students.

Thank you also to our staff and students for embracing the spirit of the day so enthusiastically. Your participation helped create a wonderful sense of community and a celebration of reading that will be remembered long after the final page of Book Week has been turned.

Some school traditions are about much more than the final score.

Throughout the year, JSR staff have laced up their boots to take on students from Years 9, 10, and 11, and now our Year 12 students, in a series of friendly soccer matches that have brought plenty of excitement, laughter, and healthy competition to the School.

For many of our Year 12 students, this week's fixture marked the final opportunity to be involved in an event like this as JSR students. It was a chance to step onto the field alongside classmates, create another shared experience and add one more chapter to their time at the School.

After being postponed the previous week, the match finally went ahead in sunny conditions. With the staff team missing a few key players, the game was played eight-a-side and proved to be a closely contested battle. Strong defending, excellent refereeing from Mr Dundo and a series of impressive saves from Mr Weaver kept the scores level for much of the game before the students eventually broke through in the second half to secure a hard-earned 1-0 victory.

While the result went the way of the students, the real highlight was the atmosphere. A large crowd gathered to support both teams, creating a fantastic sense of community and giving players plenty of encouragement throughout the match.

A special mention goes to Event K. O. (Y12), whose performance stood out on the day, and congratulations to all staff and students who took part and lent their support.

In the end, the game itself was the winner.

Do you have a passion for dance?
Due to overwhelming demand, we've opened 8 additional places in the 2027 Year 9 JSR Specialist Dance Program. If you were previously considering applying, this is your opportunity to join a dynamic program that supports students in developing their technical skills, creativity, confidence, and performance experience.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, 23 September, from 3.45pm to 5.00pm in the JSR Dance Studio.
Places are limited and expected to fill quickly.

The first audience has spoken, and judging by the laughter, applause and enthusiasm filling the room, our cast is more than ready for opening night.

Today, students from PK to Year 2 enjoyed a special preview performance of The Rockin' Tale of Snow White, presented by our talented Primary performers.

This fresh and energetic take on the classic fairy tale combines humour, music, larger-than-life characters and plenty of surprises, creating a production that appeals to audiences of all ages. The excitement in the room was contagious as younger students cheered on the performers, while the cast embraced the opportunity to perform in front of one of their most enthusiastic audiences yet.

Just as impressive as the performance itself was the commitment our students showed throughout the rehearsal process. Bringing a musical production to life requires teamwork, confidence, perseverance and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. Today's performance showcased the results of that hard work and the incredible talent within our Primary School.

A big congratulations to all cast and crew members, along with the staff who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare the production. We cannot wait to see our students take to the stage again and share their work with the wider JSR community.

Imagine designing a game, building a robot or creating your own digital world these school holidays.

Code Camp is returning to JSR on 1-2 October, giving students the opportunity to explore technology, creativity and problem-solving through a range of engaging holiday programs.

Designed specifically for school-aged students, Code Camp helps young learners develop confidence with technology while encouraging critical thinking, collaboration and creativity. Whether students are interested in coding, digital design, animation, robotics, or simply trying something new, there are programs available to suit a variety of interests and experience levels.

Programs like Code Camp provide students with opportunities to develop valuable future-focused skills in a fun and supportive environment while making new friends and challenging themselves in new ways.

Could you write an entire book in a single day?

A group of talented JSR students accepted that challenge during Write a Book In A Day, collaborating to plan, write and illustrate an original story while supporting children's cancer research.

The event encouraged teamwork, creativity and problem-solving as students worked against the clock to transform ideas into a completed book. Their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the day reflected the outstanding effort required to bring such an ambitious project to life.
