We’ve kicked off 2026 with a bang 💥 We have been busy settling our new children in to the service and welcoming our existing families back, most in new rooms! Our preschool program is up and running also, with the Lilly Pilly’s getting straight in to their school readiness skills. We can’t wait to see what this year brings 🤩

🦎 We had a special visit from Feature Creatures at Nurture and Grow. In line with our Letterland program and Rr week, we invited this interactive reptile show to our service. The children were able to see and touch a variety of reptiles, including stick insects, lizards, turtles and even pythons!! We learnt all about what these animals do, what food they eat and where they like to live. Thanks Feature Creatures for an amazing interactive experience 🐢

🍃 Happy Earth Day 🌎 our children of all ages took part in some wonderful activities revolving around caring for our earth. What beautiful concepts we were able to speak about to embed today and every day!

We had a very successful morning celebrating Holi. Our colour run was filled with laughter, energy and excitement from everyone. All the children loved being able to shower their friends and teachers with bright colours. Incorporating Holi into our curriculum builds on the children’s understanding of cultural diversity, the importance of community and the values of kindness and respect.

Recently we had a visit from Duncan the Bee Man. The Banksias had been exploring all things bees so what better way to extend their learning than to see bees working in action!

Duncan went above and beyond, bringing in his hive, helping the children examine the honeycomb, taste honey and extract some for us to keep!
He also dressed the children up to role play how the hive works and the role of the queen bee.

We can’t thank Duncan enough for this wonderful insight! 🐝

We’ve been busy in our community! Our Lilly Pilly’s made their first visit to the library for the year, by the bus of course! Our Banksia friends took part in a community walk, dropping letters to our neighbours and collecting pieces of nature along the way.

Look at how busy our 2025 has been so far! As we kick off a new year, our philosophy of child led and family centred learning comes to the fore during transition of new children to our service. We aim to support each child as an individual to feel safe in our care. Look at how happy our children are taking part in a range of play based experiences 🎨🛝

🎓 Graduating class of 2024 🎓 Last week we celebrated the end of the preschool journey for our school leavers. The children invited their families to watch them sing songs and graduate from our preschool program. A wonderful evening of love, laughter and cake! We are sure our school leavers will thrive at big school and beyond ✨🤩

Dramatic play in our Gumnuts room looks something like this! Toddlers thrive amongst dramatic play. Through this form of play, toddlers develop essential life skills such as turn taking, sharing and an increase in their verbal communication skills. Based on children’s interests, our clever Gumnut educators created the Gumnuts Grand Prix 🏎️ and storytelling around the campfire 🏕️

🌍 World Space Week at Nurture and Grow 🪐 Our Educators took the opportunity to introduce learning about space to our children for World Space Week 💫 the children enjoyed many art and sensory based experiences as they learnt a variety of facts about our solar system. This has really spurred on a space interest which we will continue to explore ✨
