🔬🍓 FUTURE TEACHERS IN ACTION | NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK
Earlier this term, students from the Robert Townson High School Future Teachers Club (FTC) had the opportunity to step inside the classroom from a teacher’s perspective, participating in lesson observations at Robert Townson Public School. These observations provided valuable insight into primary education, classroom management and effective teaching strategies.
On Monday 17 August, our FTC students took the next exciting step in their teaching journey — moving from observing lessons to planning and delivering one themselves!
As part of our National Science Week celebrations, FTC students facilitated a full Science lesson for more than 70 Year 6 students from Robert Townson Public School.
🌱 Inspired by this year’s National Science Week theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” our future teachers designed and delivered an engaging, hands-on investigation exploring DNA extraction from strawberries. 🍓🧬
The experience gave our Year 6 visitors the opportunity to step into a high school science setting and participate in an exciting practical investigation, while our FTC students strengthened their confidence, communication, leadership, lesson delivery and classroom management skills.
👏 We are incredibly proud of the initiative, enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated by our Future Teachers Club students. Experiences like these provide an authentic opportunity for students interested in education to develop their skills while strengthening the important connections between our high school and local primary schools.
