πŸ’Ό Year 11 Work Studies in Action!

This term, our Year 11 Work Studies students have been exploring a range of industry sectors and examining how employees manage their work–life balance.

Today, students took their learning beyond the classroom by interviewing workers across the hospitality, retail and construction industries, while also exploring the public sector at the Australian Museum.

Students confidently asked thoughtful questions and gained valuable firsthand insight into the responsibilities and demands of different roles.

This experience will support students as they prepare for their final assessment, where they will present their findings on industry sectors and work–life balance.

A fantastic day of authentic, real-world learning! πŸ‘πŸ½

Future Teachers Club students from Years 9 and 10 represented Robert Townson High School for Science Week at Sydney Zoo on Friday, 21 August. Students had the exciting opportunity to work alongside zoo educators, participating in hands-on workshops focused on developing and delivering engaging Science lessons for primary school students and zoo visitors. This valuable experience allowed our Future Teachers to build their confidence, communication and teaching skills while gaining first-hand experience working in an educational setting beyond the traditional classroom environment. We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing this opportunity and representing our school with enthusiasm and professionalism.
Be sure to also keep an eye out for the first episode of our Future Teachers Club vlog, featuring an exclusive look at careers in zoo education and the incredible work of the Sydney Zoo education team.

πŸ’™ FAREWELL TO AN AMAZING STAFF MEMBER

It is with great sadness that we farewell a truly valued member of the Robert Townson High School community.

Quzon, your kindness, dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting our students, staff and families have made an incredible impact on our school. You have always been someone people could turn to. offering encouragement, understanding, compassion and a helping hand whenever it was needed.

The genuine care you have shown our students and the positive relationships you have built across our school community are a reflection of the wonderful person you are. Your warmth, positivity and willingness to go above and beyond have touched so many people, and your contribution to RTHS will not be forgotten.

While we are incredibly sad to see you go, we are also excited for you as you begin your next chapter. Thank you for everything you have given to our school and, most importantly, for the difference you have made in the lives of so many.

πŸ”¬πŸ“ FUTURE TEACHERS IN ACTION | NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK

Earlier this term, students from the Robert Townson High School Future Teachers Club (FTC) had the opportunity to step inside the classroom from a teacher’s perspective, participating in lesson observations at Robert Townson Public School. These observations provided valuable insight into primary education, classroom management and effective teaching strategies.

On Monday 17 August, our FTC students took the next exciting step in their teaching journey β€” moving from observing lessons to planning and delivering one themselves!

As part of our National Science Week celebrations, FTC students facilitated a full Science lesson for more than 70 Year 6 students from Robert Townson Public School.

🌱 Inspired by this year’s National Science Week theme, β€œSeeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” our future teachers designed and delivered an engaging, hands-on investigation exploring DNA extraction from strawberries. πŸ“πŸ§¬

The experience gave our Year 6 visitors the opportunity to step into a high school science setting and participate in an exciting practical investigation, while our FTC students strengthened their confidence, communication, leadership, lesson delivery and classroom management skills.

πŸ‘ We are incredibly proud of the initiative, enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated by our Future Teachers Club students. Experiences like these provide an authentic opportunity for students interested in education to develop their skills while strengthening the important connections between our high school and local primary schools.

A wonderful example of students teaching students, nurturing curiosity and inspiring the next generation of learners β€” and perhaps the next generation of teachers! πŸŒŸπŸ‘©β€πŸ«πŸ‘¨β€πŸ«
