📚✨ Book Week Story Night! ✨📚

What a wonderful night celebrating our love of books and reading at our Book Week Story Night!

A huge thank you to all of our families who came along and joined us for the evening. It was fantastic to see so many students excited to purchase a book from the Book Fair, settle in and listen to stories together, and enjoy some yummy supper and Milo afterwards!

A special thank you to Mrs Laucirica for all her hard work in organising story night. Also to our wonderful staff, as well as School Captain Wil, who gave up their time to read stories throughout the evening. Thank you also to our students for their fantastic engagement and enthusiasm while listening to each of the stories.

Of course, we couldn’t finish the night without a bit of fun! A big thank you to DJ Rach for the dance videos that had everyone up and moving for our dance party before home time!

We would also like to congratulate our lucky door prize winners, Jack C, Asher S and Paisley B, who each won $20 to spend at the Book Fair!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Story Night such a fun and memorable celebration of Book Week!

A huge thank you to Deon Howell from Cockys Signs for coming in to share his expertise with Miss Ava’s class!

As we prepare to develop our final shipwreck brochures, Deon joined us as our graphic design expert and shared his 10 most important elements of effective graphic design. 🎨💻

Our students were incredibly engaged and excited to take Deon’s advice and apply it to their own brochure designs. Having a real-world expert share his knowledge gives our students an authentic purpose for their learning and helps us work towards creating a product of excellence.

We’re looking forward to putting Deon’s advice into action and getting his feedback as we refine our final products.

Thank you, Deon, for giving up your time and sharing your knowledge with us — we really appreciate it!

Throughout the term, Miss Redden’s, Miss Mueller’s and Mrs Zalme’s classes have been busy learning how to be nature explorers!

We’ve learnt so much in the classroom, including what nature is, the difference between natural and man-made things, living and non-living things, the parts of a plant, and animal habitats.

We’ve also had lots of opportunities to take our learning outside the classroom and into nature! We explored the Rotary Park, used our five senses to investigate our school garden, searched for patterns in nature around our school, and went on a listening walk to the park near the Domain Playground, using our ears to observe the world around us.

It has been wonderful exploring, noticing, wondering and learning about the natural world around us!

How exciting to see some familiar faces featured in this 7NEWS story recognising 150 years since the wreck of the Geltwood.

Our students were lucky enough to feature in the segment while watching the Geltwood documentary and learning more about this significant piece of our local history.
