Milawa Primary School

Milawa Primary School respectful and engaged learners, creative thinkers, connected with school, community and world Sixty two students are currently enrolled.

Set amongst established trees and with extensive grass playing areas and enviable resources, this highly successful government school is located on Milawa-Bobinawarrah Road, mid way between the township of Milawa and the Milawa Cheese Factory. The school strives to create a personalised learning experience for each child. Our staff are committed to ongoing professional development and teach accord

ing to an evidence-based model of practice supported by current policies, programs and research to provide the best possible learning outcomes in academics and emotional intelligence. The grounds are spacious and provide a safe and happy environment in which the children can play. They include shaded playground areas, a football / cricket oval and a soccer pitch. There is also a basketball court, rebound wall and a maze to encourage more creative and passive play. There is a shared eating area complete with composting facilities which help sustain our kitchen garden. The school is well equipped due largely to a hard-working Parents and Friends Association who raise community engagement and raise funds, and School Council who are continually looking at ways to improve the school and put many hours in to make this a reality. Specialist classes are provided in the areas of LOTE (Italian), BluEarth, Music, Emotional Intelligence and the MACC and MARC vans provide Art and Library travelling specialists. We have a strong relationship with other local schools and are one of seven schools who make up the Ovens Learning Community. We also have close links to the local Government secondary school, Wangaratta High School and provide an extensive transition program.

This beautiful dog has come into our school yard.

It is really calm and has a collar, but unfortunately, there's no name or number to call.

If you know who the dog belongs to, please contact the school.

Milawa Primary School community says goodbye to one of our own.

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Dianne Robinson, a cherished colleague, friend and valued member of our school family for more than 25 years.

Throughout her time at Milawa, Di served our school with unwavering dedication in a variety of roles, from Education Support to finishing her career as our Business Manager. No matter the role, one thing never changed, her genuine care for our students, staff and wider community. She had an incredible ability to make everyone feel heard, valued and supported.

Di embodied everything that makes Milawa Primary School special. She was the person who quietly stepped in whenever something needed doing, the reassuring ear when someone needed to talk, the encouraging voice that lifted others, and, when required, the one who could gently crack the whip to get us all moving. Her strength, resilience and determination shone through the many health challenges she faced over the years, inspiring those around her.

Earlier this year, Di experienced the heartbreaking loss of her beloved husband, Collin, who was also a much-valued contributor to our school community. While our hearts ache with her passing, we take comfort in the thought that they are reunited once again.

We will miss Di's infectious laugh, her thoughtful messages of encouragement, her generous spirit and, of course, the legendary homemade fudge that brought smiles to so many.

Di has left an enduring legacy at Milawa Primary School one that lives on in the countless students, families and staff whose lives she touched with kindness, compassion and unwavering commitment. Her impact will never be forgotten.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with her daughter Nicole, son-in-law Brendon, and her much-loved granddaughters, Lily and Lexi, during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you, Di, for everything you gave to our school and to each of us. Your friendship, wisdom and kindness will remain part of Milawa forever.

Vale Dianne Robinson.

What a fantastic day at our Marmungan Athletic Sports! From the moment we gathered, there was a real sense of joy in being outdoors, being active, and sharing the day as a community. Students embraced every opportunity, trying new events, stepping outside their comfort zones, making new friends, and most importantly, having fun.
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents and families who helped out, cheered loudly, and supported our young people every step of the way. Your encouragement makes all the difference.
Well done to all of our athletes for their effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and congratulations to those who received award recognition, we are incredibly proud of you all.
Days like these remind us what makes our cluster so special, stronger together.

Maths Challenge 2026! Our 5/6 class were challenged by our friends at Wangaratta Primary School to see if we could use only the digits 2, 0, 2 and 6, exactly one time each along with any mathematical symbol or operation of our choosing to create expressions equivalent to the whole numbers between 1 and 30. We locked in, and as a class we did it! It certainly opened up lots of new learning around order of operations, factorials and more! We loved it so much, we're now choosing our own number combinations to try again.

It was so wonderful to see our school buzzing with families at our Open Afternoon.

Thank you for the overwhelming support and attendance, it meant so much to see so many parents and carers in our classrooms, asking questions, sharing thoughts and wonderings, and celebrating the fantastic start our students have made in 2026.

Moments like these truly reflect our value of Connect, building strong relationships, learning together, and growing as a community. We are so grateful to partner with such engaged and supportive families, and we’re excited for all that lies ahead this year. Please remember at anytime you can contact the teachers and book a 1:1 interview - we love to chat with you about our amazing learners.

What a brilliant start to the 2026 school year!
We’ve loved being back together, welcoming new friends to our school community, spotting ducks around the grounds, and keeping cool in the library on those 40+ degree days.

Our preps are settling in so well, it's like they've always been here, and our grade 6 students are looking fantastic in their new tops, already doing an amazing job stepping up as our school leaders 💙

We’re feeling excited, grateful and very ready for a great year of learning, growth and fun ahead. Here’s to 2026!

One week to go! Can't wait to see you all!
