A little reminder for our Lake Albert Learning Centre families that Friday 28 August is a planned centre closure day.

Our team will be using this professional learning day to participate in Circle of Security Classroom, made possible through the Flying Start opportunities provided by the South Australian Government.

This evidence-based approach strengthens educators’ understanding of children’s emotional and relational needs, supporting secure relationships that provide the foundation for children’s wellbeing, engagement and learning.

We’re really looking forward to bringing this learning back into our everyday practice at Lake Albert Learning Centre!

A reminder for Friday families

Families who usually attend on Fridays have had their bookings removed for this closure day, and no fee will be charged for Friday 28 August.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting our team’s ongoing professional learning. 🌱

We look forward to seeing everyone again when the centre reopens!

Stretch, Balance & Bounce

Yesterday, the preschool children explored yoga in a fun and engaging way using balloons! They practised different poses and movements while carefully balancing and moving with their balloons.

They really enjoyed this experience and even found ways to incorporate the balloons into their favourite yoga moves.

It was a fun way to develop balance, coordination, body awareness and concentration while enjoying some movement and mindfulness together!

🎉 A Bit of Friday Fun! 🎉

Earlier this week, the children had so much fun playing in a ball pit that they asked if we could make another one. This time, they had an even bigger idea… "Can we make it bigger and add the slide?" We loved seeing their creativity and enthusiasm, so we brought their idea to life!

Before the fun began, we talked about how to keep everyone safe while using the slide and the ball pit. We discussed taking turns and having one child on the slide at a time, ensuring everyone could enjoy the experience safely.

What looked like a morning full of fun was also filled with rich learning opportunities:
🌟 Problem-solving as children worked out the best ways to climb in and out of the ball pit.
🌟 Resilience as they tried different strategies when their first attempt didn't work.
🌟 Language development as they shared ideas, communicated with their peers and educators and used phrases such as "Help, please."
🌟 Social skills through taking turns, waiting patiently, encouraging one another and working together.
🌟 Gross motor development as they climbed, balanced, slid and navigated the ball pit.
🌟 Creative thinking and early maths as the children chose to use construction vehicles to transport balls back into the pit, exploring concepts such as capacity, quantity and spatial awareness while strengthening their coordination and teamwork.

At Lake Albert Learning Centre, we love following children's ideas and interests, knowing that some of the richest learning happens when children lead the play.

💛 Sometimes the best learning begins with a simple idea from a child!

3-Year-Old Preschool at Lake Albert Learning Centre

At Lake Albert Learning Centre, our curriculum is developed with the children, for the children, ensuring their voices, interests, and ideas are at the heart of our program.

Our 3-Year-Old Preschool Program has been thoughtfully designed to support the developmental milestones of three-year-olds while nurturing each child's unique interests, strengths, and abilities.

Through interest-based and project learning, our educators build meaningful experiences around both individual and group interests, encouraging children to explore, investigate, and discover through play.

Throughout the program, children are supported to:
*Develop fine motor skills through drawing, painting, mark making, cutting, and creative art and craft experiences.
*Build early literacy and numeracy skills through storytelling, songs, conversations, counting, writing, and everyday learning opportunities.
*Strengthen their social and emotional skills by learning to build friendships, work together, share ideas, and develop confidence in a supportive environment.
*Engage in rich, play-based learning through favourite experiences such as the home corner, block play, construction, sensory exploration, outdoor play, and so much more.

If you'd like to learn more about our 3-Year-Old Preschool Program, view our Floor Book, discuss individual learning goals, or take a tour of our learning environment, we'd love to welcome you. Please come and chat with Heleena—always happy to answer your questions!

On Saturday evening, we came together to celebrate and farewell our wonderful Michelle after an incredible 11 years with Lake Albert Learning Centre.

Michelle has been a valued member of our team and over the years she has touched the lives of so many children, families and colleagues. It was so special to have our current team, past educators, and families join us to celebrate her journey and the lasting friendships and connections made along the way.

A huge thank you to Freshies Cafe for hosting us and helping make the evening such a memorable one. We also want to thank Baked By Tiarnna for creating the beautiful cupcakes that were the perfect finishing touch to our celebration.

Michelle, thank you for your dedication, kindness, and the positive impact you've made over the past 11 years. We are incredibly grateful for everything you've contributed to our centre and wish you nothing but happiness and success in your next chapter.

A Look at Our Closure Day

Our recent closure day on Thursday gave our team dedicated time to reflect, learn and strengthen the quality of education and care we provide every day.

Together we:
👩🏼‍🏫Reviewed and refined our programming and documentation.
👩🏼‍🏫Carefully reflected on our daily rhythm, ensuring every moment of the day is intentional and supports children's learning and wellbeing.
👩🏼‍🏫Reflected on the latest AEDC data and reviewed our implementation of the Flying Start reform, ensuring our practices continue to respond to current evidence and priorities in early childhood education.
👩🏼‍🏫Made significant progress on our Quality Improvement Plan through collaboration and reflective practice.
👩🏼‍🏫We also shared our preschoolers yoga moves.

These days are an investment in our educators, our service and, most importantly, the children.

Thank you to our families for supporting our team's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. 💙
