A massive Thank you to Redlands Bonsai Society for inviting me along to spend time with their members over the last three days!

I enjoy coming back to Brisbane catching up with Bonsai friends and meeting new ones.

The weekend comprised of helping out members during the morning workshop on Saturday and presenting on some of the species I am working with as well as suggesting possible species for members to trial.

A special thank you to Mel and Heather for spending time with me on Friday afternoon for a Private workshop.

Big shout out to Mel and Karen for hosting me over the two nights and their amazing hospitality β€οΈπŸ™πŸ™

A Big Thank you to Mandy and Tao for spending time with yesterday partaking in my Introduction to Natives as Bonsai Beginners Class.

It was lovely spending time together and sharing my experience with both of them.
Both trees came out great and well on their journey into being a Bonsai.

I look forward to catching up for our Repot class in August.

A massive Thank you to Barry Meiring, Beau Pett and Joel Cohen for an amazing learning experience at Tondoon Botanic Gardens.

The newly opened Bonsai House should be a destination for any Bonsai enthusiasts and it will no doubt become a leading learning institution in years to come as the collection aims to house more species indigenous to the local area and north Queensland.

The volunteers are doing an amazing job looking after the House and it was great spending time with them sharing my experience with them as we repotted a number of different species to set them on their Bonsai journey.

A shout out to Ashleigh, the nursery manager for all her work in maintaining all the different species with future Bonsai potential.

I hope to be back one day and see the progression of all the trees I had the chance to work on. First pic, Dansia elliptica, last pic Melaleuca linariifolia Claret tops, I worked on these outside of the weekend.

Thank you again!

Day 2 of demonstrations at Tandoon Botanical Gardens for World Bonsai Day weekend.

Today I worked on a Melaleuca salicina which had been collected from a river bank a few years ago.
It was lovely having people joining in and asking many questions.

A Big thank you to Matt and Michael for being my 'official photographers' over these last two daysπŸ™πŸ‘

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums out there πŸ’“ πŸ’—

Happy belated World Bonsai Day!

Day 1 of demo's yesterday had me working on a Melaleuca styphelioides, raft raw stock grown by Joel, the curator of the gardens.

It was an interesting piece to work on and I set a future structure for the trees.

It was a relaxed vibe throughout the day with people coming and going and checking out the exhibition at the Bonsai House as well as the display regional Bonsai artists held at the Japanese Tea House.

I was excited to finally meet Michael Watt, an artists I've been following for sometime doing interesting work with our trees.

Hope you all had a great day!

Very proud to be part of Opening of the Bonsai House in Tondoon Botanical Gardens, Gladstone.

It has been a huge team effort getting this up and running and congratulations goes out to Barry and Beau plus all the staff and volunteers for establishing a place for our living art form to shine.

It was an emotional experience being part of the Smoking Ceremony performed by traditional Elders who unfortunately couldn't be part of official opening in October last year.

I am looking forward to the special World Bonsai Day weekend full of demonstrations run by myself and an Exhibition of regional Bonsai artists.

Come and say hello if you're in the area.

Some Native Inspiration for you all!

On our way down to Hobart, we stopped at Pine Lake, Central Plateau.
We were welcomed by ancient Athrotaxis cupressoides Pencil Pines, old souls with many tales to tellπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

A must see on your travels in Tasmania.

It's been a busy two days at the 38th AABC Convention hosted by Bonsai Society of Southern Tasmania. I've had the pleasure of meeting lots of new Bonsai friends whilst selling my pots.
Only a few pots left to sell but I am looking forward to seeing my pots with their new residents in the future.
Thank you all for your support πŸ™ ❀️

It's been a busy three days!

A Big Thank you to Sav, Ash, Glynn and Pauline who spent time with me over the last few days.

Sav joined me with his new acquisition, a Leptospermum flavescens, we picked an angle which both Sav was happy with but also worked with the flow of the trunk. Before we knew it, almost 3 hrs had passed.

Ash joined me in the afternoon with his new acquisition, a Kunzea peduncularis. He intends to display it at the upcoming Bonsai Northwest Exhibition and needed help to open it up and understanding shoot selection in doing so.

On Monday, Glynn joined me for a Private 'Dip your toes into Bonsai' class. Glynn took to the wiring like a pro!

Pauline joined me today with her recent acquisition, a Leptospermum lanigerum, and we set to style up the tree with the plan of getting it into a pot in spring.

Thank you all for spending time with me!

Off to Hobart tomorrow night to join the vendors at the AABC Convention.
Come and say hi if you're there!

A Big Thank you to Janet and Philip for spending time with me today. Janet brought in a number of projects to take them onto their next step in their Bonsai journey. One stand out was the Eucalyptus camaldulensis naturally growing as a raft style which we made some direction to.
Janet volunteers at Greenlink Box Hill indigenous nursery and has access to 'rejects' which the public don't buy. Highly recommend a visit to that nursery if you get the chance.

A belated thank you to Mark and Nicky also!
Both come in with trees needing work and it was great to see them walk away with trees taken to the next step in their journey.

I got the opportunity to restyle a Juniper procumbens for Anthony who brought the tree in for repotting and I suggested a new styling option for it,which Anthony agreed to.

And somewhere amongst all that, we made a new video for our YouTube channel, part 2 of My Collection, check it out!
