Internal Intent is an international network of schools that teach the ancient methods of Daoist Qigong and the internal martial systems of Xingyiquan and Baguazhang. With branches throughout Western Australia, the UK and Europe, this unique and profound system of Chinese internal arts now has a presence in Melbourne. With a strong and growi
ng interest among people on this side of Australia, it is a great pleasure and an honour to now be able to share these arts here. We offer classes in a range of locations, with beginner courses as well as more advanced training for ongoing students. In these traditions the practices of health, cultivation and combat are not only related, but intimately linked by simple and powerful natural principles that connect us with both our internal and external world, and with the universal root from which all things emerge. They (and their underlying primal root) are accessed through the development of Neigong (“internal skill”), a core practice that combines and mutually informs our different disciplines. Thus these arts offer the practitioner the potential to transform themselves on all levels of health, cultivation and empowerment. Those who engage with these arts come from a range of backgrounds, with interests in health, self-cultivation and the martial arts. We nurture and encourage all of these aspects, as we do the diverse range of people who practice them; everyone has something unique both to receive and to offer. The Melbourne branch of Internal Intent is lead by senior student Hannah Clemen. For more information, please visit: www.internalintent.com/melbourne
