Wangaratta City Football Club is staging the Dutchy Shield Cup match in Wangaratta on Sunday 16th August in memory of GISS star player Darrel Van Der Steeg.
GISS will be special guests at the event with GISS Melbourne Coach and Head Talent Scout Joe De Martino attending and selecting the player of the match and offering the "Darrel Van Der Steeg" Scholarship 2015.
Genova International School of Soccer announces a new scholarship for players from country regions of Victoria. The GISS "Darrel Van Der Steeg" Scholarship will assist players in showcasing their skills to a number of European clubs that are affiliated with The GISS development pathway.
This new scholarship has been set up by GISS in memory of one of its most talented players from Wangaratta, Victoria.
Darrel Van Der Steeg joined GISS in 2006 and was on the school's first ever tour of Italy in 2007. Darrel was a top performer on the tour that featured games against Genoa, Sampdoria, Livorno and AS Roma.
