Following last Friday's General Meeting, where 72% of students voted in favour of shutting down the LTSA - the leaders of both organisations have come together to find a path forwards.
That path has been found. In 2022 the LTSA will be totally leaving Bundoora and supporting the LTSU to provide all representation, services, and club funding on the campus.
This still needs to be approved by the University, but things are looking bright.
We'll be speaking with the University shortly, and as soon as we have more info, we'll let you know.
In solidarity,
Jake

The student experience at La Trobe is under attack.
Our representation, quality of education and culture is at risk if we donβt stand up against the LTSA, and the University.
The PPE Society stands firm in its support of the LTSU, and is proud to be campaigning to Shut Down the LTSA.
Apoliticism is inaction, we stand for students.
We have until 12 PM on Monday to get new proxy votes in.
To Shut Down the LTSA and Save the LTSU, we need 75% of the vote. That is a massive target and right now we are losing.
If you want to save the Student Union, then we need your help. If you haven't yet; submit your vote by proxy, it genuinely takes under five minutes.
Just as importantly, get your friends to submit a proxy. If everyone who supports this campaign got just two friends to proxies, we would win this easily.

The LTSA General Meeting had to be postponed, because the LTSA were excluding members from the meeting.
The vote has been rescheduled for this Friday at 2pm, on Zoom. If you can make it, please come along!
If you think you might not be able to make it, then please sign a proxy form so someone can submit your vote on the day!
If this vote fails, the LTSU will have to close its doors, and real student representation at LTU will die. The LTSU have been long time supporters of the PPE Society, and we know ask our members to stand in support of them.

The meeting of the LTSA General Members has been postponed. Due to serious failures within the LTSA's Administration processes, hundreds of students have been denied their vote.
The PPE Society, in the strongest terms, condemns the LTSA for their failings. This injustice is appalling and a denial of democracy.
Today has been one for the history books.
Todayβs long awaited General Meeting of the LTSA has been postponed until 2PM on the 15/10/21, due to a series of serious mistakes made by LTSA whilst managing members data and voting. This would have denied hundreds of eligible students a vote.
As we advised last night, the LTSAβs Memberβs registry, provided to us at 11:56 PM, was littered with basic typos in email addresses and domain errors. This would mean that voting links would not be sent to students, and they would be denied a fair say.
A further 136 students were flagged as needing membership investigations and given between 10 PM last night and 9 AM this morning to address concerns, or otherwise forfeit their vote.
This meeting has been scheduled for over two months, sending out the voting instructions, membership queries, and information around proxies less than 12 hours before the meeting began, is simply not acceptable.
Hundreds of students in the meeting voiced their concern at the mass exclusion of members from voting, and raised a procedural motion to postpone the meeting. The motion was overwhelmingly passed, with over 80% of the vote in favour.
Every student at La Trobe, no matter what side they are on, deserves a vote in this meeting. That the LTSA was going to push on ahead, with hundreds excluded, is appalling. Thankfully, students prevailed, and we have another week to ensure as many votes as possible can be counted.
Stay tuned for new updates over the weekend.

If youβre planning on attending the vote tomorrow, please read this!
The LTSA have finally sent out an email with the details for tomorrows meeting, twelve hours before it starts.
At the very last minute, they have announced that students are required to join the meeting with their name and ID exactly as listed on the member's registry but are not providing the registry to check that.
This was not included in any of the instructions that have been sent out previously.
If they don't they will be barred from entering the meeting and refused a vote.
Despite the registration process, that the LTSA claimed was for attendance, taking over a month, it has now been almost entirely discarded. Its only function has been to stop some students from voting.
We have also already heard from dozens of students who have said they haven't received an email. They have absolutely no chance to follow up with the LTSA before the meeting and will likely be denied a vote.
We are pushing for changes to allow all students to vote, but it is far from certain.
We need you to share this as widely as possible so that every student can be updated. We will include the link and remember to be allowed to vote, you must join the meeting with your full name and student ID.
