It's ! Ever used the words "birthplace", "champion" or "premeditated"?
SHAKESPEARE FUN FACT:
Shakespeare invented or popularised up to 1,700 words in the English language still used today (depending on which source you check), including those three words mentioned above as well as: "bedroom", "lonely", "gossip", "gloomy", "laughable", "majestic" and "swagger", among many, many more!
William Shakespeare had a huge impact on the English language by creating and popularising many new words and phrases. His creativity with language helped shape modern English, and many of his invented terms are still commonly used today in everyday conversation, literature, and media around the world.
So, if we take this fact into consideration, when we're speaking modern English, we're all automatically speaking some Shakespeare without even thinking about it! 😉
See you next Friday for another Shakespeare Fun Fact!

"Love comforteth like sunshine after rain." William Shakespeare, Venus and Adonis
Did you know the word “love” appears 2,146 times in Shakespeare’s plays, sonnets & poems? There are also 59 instances of “beloved” and 133 cases of “loving” being used in the text. That's a LOT of love from the Bard! Which is interesting, as the Elizabethan's thought that love was a sickness, but that's a lecture for another day ... 😉
Happy Love Day to you from all of us at Playing The Bard ❤️
If you love the Bard, come join us with an Auditor's Pass for our last two live online classes! All details and booking info here: https://www.playingthebard.com
