The Creative Collection is a resource to reimagine teaching and learning through the arts
Textiles are lively and flexible, visually captivating, and invite a deep sense of embodiment. They bring ideas to life through playful encounters that engage children in rich, technical, and imaginative processes.
Textiles carry cultural narratives — threads of identity, history, and belonging — connecting us to one another and to the wider world.
On JUNE 3RD, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm, we’re excited to offer an in-person experience that will allow you to experience a richer appreciation of textiles as an expressive and connective medium and first-hand experience with practical strategies across multiple approaches.
Lively, interactive, practical, and transformative.
Find your ticket via the link in our bio - we’re looking forward to it already!

Threads are a passage to understanding the experience of creativity in The Creative Collection.
Whilst there are many threads for thinking about creativity, we have identified 5 as a starting point for practice, including enjoying.

We’re excited to offer a range of opportunities to think together in the coming months, will you join us?
To draw for children or not?
A dilemma might arise when a child invites you to draw for them.
Pausing to consider what might be happening for the child will allow your response to be appropriate for the occasion.
Could it be a moment of connection, not knowing how to start, or is it about confidence or fear of making mistakes?
When we tune in and notice we are more equipped to respond in sensitive ways.
These decisions are based on our relationships with children and always in response to our belief in children’s competency.
By companioning children, thinking out loud and sharing the pleasure of drawing alongside the child, not for the child, they are able to build their confidence as a capable mark maker.
But that’s our pondering, what are yours?

We are so drawn to the experiences made visible in this video here at Nido Scuola Jacarandà
Open-ended materials hold a certain openness about them.
Inclusive. Suggestive. Full of possibility.
At The Creative Collection, we think of materials as companions in the learning process
meeting children in relationship, offering cues, textures, tensions, invitations.
A cylinder hints at rolling.
A surface offers resistance.
A collection invites connection.
Children take up these invitations in their own ways
testing, revisiting, refining.
Ideas begin to gather momentum
about movement, weight, rhythm, collaboration.
And alongside this, the teacher listens with curiosity.
Staying in dialogue with what is unfolding.
Attentive to the nuance of children’s actions
to the theories forming through repetition and variation
to the possibilities within the materials themselves.
There is a kind of pedagogical attentiveness here
where materials, children, and educator are in constant exchange.
A shift in placement
an introduction of a new element
a pause that allows an idea to linger a little longer
All of this shapes the inquiry.
Playful inquiring lives in this relational space
where materials suggest, children respond,
and teachers listen closely in order to have a sense of how to sustain the thinking.
