The Conference; 'Mauri of Materials'. We're on the count down for the October conference. 49 days, 17 hours, and 16 minutes to go! It will be here before we know it!

Caterina Pennestri from Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE) will present 'Listening to the Mauri of Materials - Embodied Encounters: Materials, Meaning and the Hundred Languages'.

Caterina says, materials are never neutral. They carry histories, memories, possibilities and invitations. They speak in whispers and provocations, offering children and educators opportunities to encounter the world through wonder, research and relationship.

In her keynote, she will explore the identity, soul and spirit of materials and their role in children's ongoing research of meaning. Inspired by the educational project of Reggio Emilia and informed by contemporary Australian pedagogical contexts, she will reflect on materials as living languages, capable of evoking questions, theories, emotions and new ways of knowing. Through symbols, metaphors and the hundred languages of children, materials become companions in thought, mediators of dialogue and co-constructors of knowledge.
