Partnership and/or collaboration with Cambodian organizations that support the poor. Providing improved educational opportunities for children and young people in poor Cambodian communities
Promoting and encouraging good health and hygiene practices

in rural Cambodian communities
Mentoring Cambodian youth to assist them to develop to their fullest potential
Providing support for programmes that encourage young Cambodian people to develop their skills and resilience
Supporting programmes that develop ethical citizenship in children and young people in Cambodia
Providing opportunities for volunteers to assist local Cambodian communities to improve their living conditions
Providing medical support for poor Cambodians.

Our mid-year journey to Cambodia has taken us on an incredible journey through Phnom Penh, Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri - meeting communities, visiting projects, reconnecting with friends and seeing firsthand the difference made possible through the support of our Australian donors and volunteers.

From the bustling streets of Phnom Penh to the remote indigenous communities of the north-east, this trip has given us many opportunities to listen, learn, share and plan for the future.

The team worked hard to fundraise for the renovation of Ou Kranlanh Kindergarten in north western Cambodia. When we visited last June, the building was derelict and not being used. In January, after work was undertaken by local tradesman to fix the roof and raise the level of the floor, the team spent three days painting two of the classrooms. It is great to see that the concreting of the school yard has been completed. What a difference! Thank you for sharing Kim Bunthann. See ‘before’ photos

A message from one of our founders, Chris Carolane.

Dear Friend of ACC,

I know that it has been quite a while since we last contacted you. This year has been one of significant change in the governance of our charity, and in addition I have personally become very ill again.

Congratulations to our partner in Cambodia, Et Kosal. He was awarded a prestigious medal from the Cambodian government for his work in the remote areas of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri with Avrongea. Well done Kosal, you have an amazing heart and we are very proud of you.

Thanks to Dyna Khiev for organising the latest shipment of our donation to Memang Health Centre in Mondulkiri. ACC is delighted to support this small, remote health centre who provide much needed health care to the Bunong indigenous community.

Since July 2025, ACC has been donating Mother and Baby Packs to the very remote Memang Health Centre in Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia. These packs, consisting of a baby mattress with mosquito net, nappies, clothes and new sarongs for mothers, are given to the Indigenous Bunong families who come from the surrounding villages to give birth. They cost around $45USD per pack. As subsistent farmers, many of the families do not have enough resources to buy the necessities for a new baby and had been relying on the kindness of the staff at the Health Centre.

We are trying to raise awareness of the inequity of health care in the rural areas of Cambodia and we would like raise money for upgrades to the Memang Health Centre, including a small outdoor kitchen for the families of patients who are being treated at the centre.

Day 9 & 10: Ou Kranlanh Kindergarten project. Last July, Kim Bunthann invited two of our committee members to visit Ou Kralanh school in Siem Reap Province.
Bunthann explained that the kindergarten classes were currently being held in an outdoor makeshift classroom, completely open to the elements We then met with the Principal of the school who asked us to help create a new learning space for the children. Rather than starting from scratch, we decided to renovate a long-abandoned building that had fallen into disrepair due to rain and flooding. Before we arrived in Cambodia, local workers restored the building's integrity by fixing the roof, raising the floor, and adding tiles to the rooms and verandah. We have so far spent two days painting the building, inside and out. We have also contributed to the school's inaugural flagpole, the Principal telling us proudly that it was the first in the Kralanh province!
