I would consider my visit to the State Library Victoria, Australia’s oldest public library, to be intellectually rewarding. The exhibition on “World of the Book” was captivating since I like books and reading. The modern, bright and spacious or was quite a visually stunning sight to behold.

Been a while since the pioneer core team of SG100 Foundation get to meet socially at one place. The pandemic has restricted us and pulled us away in different directions, whether to stay afloat, to keep our jobs, to create more jobs or to diversify our business. But we choose to maintain a high spirit and do whatever we can for Singapore. I’m positively impacted by the perseverance and enthusiasm of Dennis (founder) 😃and W***y (chairman)😃 for keeping the Foundation going.

Hey! “He chose you in Him” (not outside or independent of Him, but you are in Him - and that’s a very safe and happy place to be in) and “before the foundation of the world” (so the world can shake and break but you are still safe cos you are grounded on and in Him before the world was even founded). How safe and precious you are in the Lord! ❤️

A week ago - having wine with one who has grown up, wise and wholesome and a head full of hair (probably because he had cleverly missed the frequent flying books I used to throw in class - that’s what these ex-pupils claimed) 😃how time flies!

Today I came across this video on the "Library Lion" and it jolted my memory of a childhood incident of my mum, the library and a lion.
When I was 8 or 9, my mum took me to the National Library (yea, the original, majestic red-brick one). The picture book I borrowed was about a lion whose adventures I've clean forgotten.
But what I've never forgotten is that I lost the book. At that young age, it was terrifying to lose a public library book. Would the police look for me? Would I go to jail? Would my mum beat me up?
I still remember how I stood before my mum, trembling in my shorts and confessing to her about my carelessness. Her response was unexpectedly calm and she was not mad with me. Instead, she paid the hefty fine of $20 to the library and the case was close.
On reflection ...
My mum is a great mum. She's not highly educated but she paved the way for me to be educated. She took me to the library, sometimes daily, and she let me use her library card so that I could borrow as many books as I could carry.
If I am a reader, it's because I have a mum who inspired and encouraged me to read. Thank you Mum!
Now that you are in heaven, you are probably devouring the books (or scrolls) and having the time of your life, with God by your side.
