FOR SALE

20.5" x 12.5" x 10"
Glass and copper foil

This incredibly complex blue ringed octopus by Steve Meyer is grinder-shaped, fused, and enamel fired. The jar is hand blown glass with a mirrored bottom allowing you to see the beautiful detail on the underside of the piece.

Composed using an extremely labour intensive technique utilising a copper foil and silver frame, each piece of glass making up the octopus' skin was kiln fired three times before being hand ground to shape. Finally each piece was fitted to the actual frame and soldered in place.

Finally finished and mounted :) This piece is a sand cast head and weighs a ton. The sculpture had a few undercuts which my teacher told me were impossible to do via sand casting. Proved her wrong :p I made the base of solid steel so it's pretty hefty

Hey Guys,

Super thrilled to see all the new likes. I figured I would post a pic of something special to celebrate :)

This is a hand engraving I made of the famous Japanese woodcut "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Hokusai. I've included the original so you can see what it's supposed to be. Hope you all enjoy :) like and share the page and I'll be posting more work soon :)
