Are you seeing mood changes in your teen? Adolescence is such a tough time. Building their understanding of the world and their place in it requires a lot of soul searching and testing the waters. With 4 teenagers in my household I certainly feel tested often!!! So what do you do to navigate the moods?
One strategy is to actively listen to listen and not to respond. As humans we want to solve each others problems. But often all we want is to vocalise our thinking and feelings to help make sense of it. Be the ear that helps the thinking pour out. Validate their feelings and thinking. Ask the questions that help them to make sense or the confusion. If you ask questions rather than offer solutions you will notice a shift. I promise! 🤩
