Hands-on experience, strong relationships and a passion for helping people succeed in trades—these are at the heart of Andrew Micallef’s work as AGA’s Apprentice and Employment Services Team Leader.
Since joining AGA eight years ago, Andrew has mentored dozens of apprentices, managed major accounts with 50+ electrical apprentices and championed programs that open doors for women in trades. “Mentoring young apprentices and watching them progress through their four-year journey is incredibly rewarding,” he says.

Term 1 is officially underway for our 2026 VDSS students.
From our Trade Training Centres in Deer Park, Korumburra, Warragul and Bairnsdale, to partner secondary schools right across the state, we’re welcoming more than 1,500 Year 10-12 students beginning (or continuing!) their VET journey as part of their VCE Vocational Major pathway. Behind the scenes, our teams have completed a mammoth induction effort, onboarding 1,000+ students from around 100 schools.
It’s a massive start to the year and we can’t wait to see the skills, growth and achievements our students will bring to life in 2026.
Here’s to a great year ahead!

We’re proud to celebrate Chloe Ngarua, named AGA’s 2025 Safety Award winner.
Chloe kickstarted her career in workplace safety on Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel Project, working across five underground stations and stepping into a male-dominated environment with confidence and determination.
From her first day on site to guiding workers safely through complex construction challenges, Chloe’s dedication to ensuring everyone comes home safely has been recognised with this award. Her traineeship through AGA and ITFE RTO #6372 helped her develop the skills and confidence to make a real impact in workplace safety.
Chloe’s story is a great reminder that workplace safety matters, and that opportunities through traineeships can lead to rewarding and meaningful careers.
