It was a great pleasure to welcome our new Principal, Mr. James Taylor, to our school this morning. I know James and I couldn’t be more pleased that he’s now joining the PHS community. He is a wonderful person and highly effective school leader.
As I leave PHS, I’m proud of what we created together, and I’m grateful for the trust, effort and generosity of so many people along the way.
Prahran High School is a strong, confident school with a clear sense of who we are and what we stand for.
Thank you for the privilege of building this school together. I have no doubt that 2026 is going to be an even greater year for the PHS community!
Wishing you a happy Christmas and a fantastic, happy, restful summer break.

Our VM PDS + WRS students are launching a Christmas Charity Toy Drive to support kids and families in need this festive season.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be collecting toys at our library collection point, so if you’ve got any old or unused toys, we’d love your donations!
Spread the word. Let’s see how big we can make the pile!

Black Comedy - Our Year 11 Play
10.11.2025 and 14.11.2025
In Peter Shaffer's hilarious, crowd-pleasing slapstick comedy, several colorful, duplicitous characters stumble around a pitch-black room – all in full view of the audience, who watch the events unfold in full light.
Performed, directed, designed and produced by our Unit 2 VCE Theatre Studies class.
Lovesick and desperate, sculptor Brindsley Miller has embellished his apartment with furniture and objects d’arte “borrowed” from the absent antique collector next door, hoping to impress his fiancée’s pompous father and a wealthy art dealer. The fussy neighbor, Harold Gorringe, returns just as a blown fuse plunges the apartment into darkness and Brindsley is revealed. Unexpected guests, aging spinsters, errant phone cords, and other snares impede his frantic attempts to return the purloined items before light is restored.
Starring:
Lucinda Ray as Brindsley Miller
Violet Halliday as Carol Melkett
Yesha David as Colonel Melkett
Harris Tate as Miss Furnival
Ayda Cherfi as Harold Gorringe
Percie Jacoby as Clea
Charlotte Gallace as Schuppanzigh
Sasha McLaughlin Phillips as George Bamberger
Set Design by Anthea Azevedo and Neve Coleman
Lighting and Sound Design by Ashley Stanley
Costume Design by Charlotte Gallace
Poster Design by Neve Coleman

Spring Soirée 2025
A couple of weeks ago, we hosted our annual Spring Soirée — an unforgettable evening showcasing the incredible talent and passion of our PHS musicians.
A huge congratulations to all our music students and staff — your dedication, creativity, and hard work throughout the year shone brightly on stage.
It was also a heartfelt celebration and send-off for our senior performers, who have given so much to our music program and helped shape it into what it is today.
Thank you to everyone who made the night such a success — what a beautiful way to welcome spring!

Our Year 9 band, ‘Cheesy 5 Cents’ competed in the South-East Region Junior Battle of the Bands today at Dandenong High School.
They put on a brilliant show — complete with an original song from a band led by one of the student’s parents!
Well done to Coops M who took out Best Drummer for the Region - an incredible achievement.
We look forward to many more performances from this band in the future.

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference 💛
These post-its popped up on one of our wellbeing posters this week — simple, thoughtful reminders from our students to look for the positives, if it feels like a tough time.
They capture so much of what makes our school special: our creativity, our kindness, and our culture of looking out for one another.
