Having to endure another lockdown has been difficult 🦠 😷 🏠

But I’ve been using the time to improve my French comprehension from ~20% to ~70% (with subtitles) 😃

Swipe to see what I’ve been watching! 🤓

And here’s to feeling as free as when I went paragliding over ‘La costa verde’ in Lima 🇵🇪 some day soon 🤞🏻

Three ways to say ‘excuse me’ in Spanish! 🇪🇸 🤩

1) ‘Disculpa’ 🤔 - If you want somebody’s attention to ask them a question.
2) ‘Con permiso’ ⚠️ - To ask for space when somebody is in your way.
3) ‘Perdón’ 🤭 - To ask for forgiveness when you do something on accident.

Happy Independence Day, Peru!! 🇵🇪

Peru is such a special place for me. I was able to call it ‘home’ in 2019 and it’s where my partner in crime is from 👩🏻

I can’t wait to be in Peru again drinking a 🍹eating 🐔 listening to 🎶 dancing 🕺🏼 and hiking to ⛰

And to confess, I’m 3 days late posting 🙈 because life gets busy sometimes 🤪

For those of you that missed my stories, my exciting announcement is that I’m starting to learn French 🇫🇷 😃

(2/2) People with written goals are 30 times more likely to be successful than those who don't have goals, according to a Harvard Business study. 📝📈

Yet 14% of the population has specific goals set and only 3% of people have their goals written down. 📊

You can create an effective goal by using the SMART acronym! 🤓

S - Specific📍
M - Measurable⚖️
A - Ambitious🤨
R - Realistic✅
T - Time⏱

Some goal setters even extend this acronym to SMARTER by having their goals evaluated (E) by others and reviewed (R) regularly. 🧐

Set yourself up for success and write down your SMART or even SMARTER goal today 😃

I have a confession to make! 😬

I haven't been giving an opportunity to practice her English with me! 🙈

We've been speaking Spanish ever since we've been together. 🇪🇸

We thought that we would start speaking English when we moved to Australia, however, our habit was more ingrained than we realized. 😅

Buuuuut we found a solution! This magical jar! 🍯

The idea is simple:
Each time one of us speaks in Spanish we have to write our name on a piece of paper and put it in the jar. 🏷

The person with the most pieces of paper at the end of each week has to buy a treat to share. 😋

Soooo here is a picture of this week's loser 🤦🏼‍♂️ with this week's wager (kombucha)!

Three responses for ‘How are you?’ in Spanish! 🇪🇸

1) ¡Muy bien! 😃 ¿Y tú?
2) Más o menos . 😕 ¿Y tú?
3) No tan bien, la verdad. ☹️ ¿Y tú?

I am starting a series of online group conversations for language learning. 🗣

What?
The first topic will be racism in light of the recent killing of George Floyd but also about racism in general and how it differs from one country to the other. 🗺

Who?
English learners 🇺🇸 and Spanish learners 🇪🇸 Native speakers are more than welcome too. 🤗

Where?
Via Zoom. 💻

How much?
Free 💸

Why?
Language learning is an effective way to process current events and hear opinions from people with different backgrounds. 🤝

When?
English: https://calendly.com/polyglot-trotter/george-floyd-and-racism
Spanish: https://calendly.com/polyglot-trotter/george-floyd-y-racismo

Please comment 🇺🇸 or 🇪🇸 if you’re interested.

What are your reasons? (1/2)

I first wanted to learn Spanish in order to put "bilingual" on my resume. 🇺🇸 🇪🇸

But I later learned and to do volunteer work in Ecuador and work as a medical Spanish interpreter.

Then inspired me to learn Brazilian Portuguese after coming back from his mission and showing me how amazing Brazil is! 🇧🇷

I was also motivated to watch and read . 📖

Now I'm learning Italian because I've always loved how it sounds. 🎶 🇮🇹

I don't know what language I'll try to learn next (probably 🇫🇷 or 🇯🇵 ).

I need to identify a good reason first! 🤨

Keep an eye out for part two of this post about Setting a Language Learning Goal! ✔️

I uploaded my first YouTube video!! 🥳

Click on the link in my bio to watch the video and subscribe (so that I don’t have 4 subscribers)! 😆🙈

It’s less than two minutes long so it won’t take too much of your time! 😃

And keep your eyes peeled for my next video in which I’ll speak in all four of my languages! 😅

I plan on making many videos about language learning tips and resources. 📚

Are there any specific videos that you’d like to see? 🤓
