Hey there MHMTers both past & present,

Just writing to you to share some news, update you on a couple of things and ask a little favour.

This year we celebrate our 10th year here at our beloved home studio and can't believe that it has gone by so quickly. We have had such an amazing time sharing the joys of music with you all through the good times and the tough ones and look forward to celebrating this milestone with a possible return of one of our favourite events, the MHMT Garage Gig and/or a get together to present unseen student works past & present, if circumstances allow.

As for the circumstances mentioned and for the benefit of mostly former students that may not know - Over the last 14 months or so, Amy (our amazing Administrator) has been dealing with the onset of an auto-immune condition called Antisynthetase Syndrome which is a rare condition that includes three auto-immune diseases that effect her lungs, muscles, skin and vascular systems, which started with an extensive hospital stay at the end of '22 and has resulted in continuing treatments which has included shutting down her natural immune system making her extremely vulnerable to catching colds, flus, covid etc. Any of these would affect her dramatically, hence the caution we have been taking at the studio since. She is currently hanging in there, still experiencing the effects of the syndrome and working at hopefully going into remission. We'd like to thank our current students for their continued support and understanding.

On a more positive note (hehe pardon the pun) we would encourage you to check out some of our students Spotify releases with current students Adam Kneale having released two albums ‘Blavatnik Building’ and ‘Harley's Home’ and Lucy Gough, an extremely talented singer/songwriting piano student who also has a release on Spotify, called - ‘All I Want’.

In addition our former students Cam & Lachie Martin, with their band ‘Cycad’ have released their debut EP - ‘Forever Daydreams’ on Spotify and are extensively gigging both locally and nationally.

Another former student Jase Miha who recently appeared on the channel nine TV show ‘Beauty and the Geek’, has also released a couple of great songs on Spotify.

We are immensely proud of all our students and eager to see what they have to offer in the future.

And now on to the little favour - MHMT now has a Google business profile which can be searched for by typing Mark Hile Music Tuition in to the Google search bar. We would greatly appreciate if you have a spare 5 minutes, to leave a review in the review section so we can boost our rating, profile and continue to impart the knowledge and love of music to others. The piano bench has arrived! So thankful to our students for this awesome Christmas gift.

Like language and math, music transcends culture and time. Studies show that learning a musical instrument at an early age is beneficial for the child's brain and development. The list is endless, but here are 5 ways children benefit from learning an instrument.

We are still a couple of weeks off being able to open the studio doors again for masked in person lessons but we will be providing a more detailed update on the easing of restrictions very soon.

With restrictions back in Melbs, if you are visiting the MHMT studio we are gonna need you to be cool like Darth and pop a mask back on!

With restrictions easing in Victoria, as of Friday masks will no longer be compulsory at MHMT studio. However as we are not out of the COVID woods just yet, we will still require you to hand sanitise, social distance, only one student in at a time and if you or a fam member is or was recently sick we ask that you do not come in and instead do your lesson over Zoom or reshedule for a makeup lesson.
