What 200 people didn’t see: the Costco trolley, the cake we couldn’t serve, and my mum calling mid-panel 🛒🎂📞
Hours before Fashion Entrepreneurship: Principles and Practice launched at The Hanger, it was an empty room, a very full Costco trolley, and a beautiful cow-decorated cake (obviously, if you know me, you know).
The room filled up, the night began, and somewhere between the author insights and the panel, the ants discovered the cake before any of our guests could. A proper send-off, RIP 🐜🎂
And as if the night needed one more unscripted moment: mid-panel discussion, my phone started ringing. Out loud. On the speakers. In front of everyone. It was my mum. Four times. I picked up and told her I was literally launching my book right now, and she asked what the title was and she still wanted to chat 😂
By the end of the night I was signing copies and laughing so much I could barely hold the pen straight. And then, just like that, an empty room again, this time full of memories instead of nerves.
From an empty room to a full house, a cake we never got to eat, chaos to celebration. Couldn’t have done any of it without our incredible volunteers who showed up early, worked so hard, and made the whole night possible.
This is the part of the story nobody usually sees. So grateful for every single person who was part of it.
