Seeing maths in new ways: 53 important squares 15/03/2025

First blog post using one anecdote + managing to keep text (and writing time) as short as possible.

Feeling kinda chuffed as it goes against a long history of spending too much time on one piece, trying to cram everything in...

It's about seeing a boring (as I experienced it) concept from high school (which I can't remembering anything about except the triangle) in a completely new way

In case of interest 🛼🔢✨

'A Penrose Tiling can look really different depending on how you colour it!

Idea 1: Identify different shapes ("upside down star", "star in a circle", "star with petals", etc.) and use a different colour for each.

Idea 2: It's possible to colour the tiling with only three colours without any two adjacent shapes having the same colour'.

Lovely info and resources from about Penrose Tiling. Create your own effects with a BW version of the official poster ✨
