๐Ÿ”ŽWhat is this research about?๐Ÿ”

The primary objective of this research project is to collect data to assess the factors contributing to employment precariousness in remote platform work. Precarious employment is characterised by several undesirable features, including reduced financial stability stemming from lower wages, limited access to benefits such as health insurance and paid leave, a lack of social and statutory protections, and increased uncertainty surrounding future employment income. Precarious employment is increasingly recognised as a social determinant of health and an employment condition affecting the well-being of workers, families, and communities. To this end, this research aims to develop and test a measuring instrument (i.e., a scale) to evaluate employment precariousness among platform workers.

๐ŸŽ“ About Me:

Greetings, everyone! I'm a sociology Honours student at the University of Melbourne. I'm conducting research into online platform work, especially online freelancing.

๐Ÿ” The primary objective of this research project is to collect data to assess the factors contributing to employment precariousness in remote platform work.

To achieve this, I'm seeking participants to complete a survey that will inform my research. The survey will ask questions about your online freelancing experiences, well-being, and social relations.

โ—๏ธTo participate in this study, you are required to meet the following criteria:

(1) Age 18 and over
(2) Had completed at least two jobs on Upwork and received compensation for them.

๐Ÿ†The survey takes around 10 - 12 minutes to complete. As a token of appreciation for your valuable input, you will receive compensation upon completing the survey.

๐Ÿ“How to participate: For further information or to register your interest, please get in touch with me at [email protected]

This study has been approved by the University of Melbourne's Human Research Ethics Committee: Reference Number 2023-26813-42040-3
