Quality care doesn't happen by accident. Every childcare centre in Australia is required to follow and implement one national framework and whether you're a parent or an educator, you need to know what it is about.
Nerie - Early Learning Mentor
As an Early Childhood Teacher and Mentor I believe that the strongest foundation for a child is a supported adult.
Whether you are a teacher in the classroom "trenches" or a parent navigating the early years at home, you don’t have to do it alone.

The phrase "Attention Seeking" has long carried a negative connotation in early childhood settings. The child may be treated as though they are being manipulative or difficult. Understanding of child development and trauma informed practice invites us to take a different approach altogether.
I would love to know your thoughts on how we as Early Childhood professionals can improve on connection, safety, and co-regulation practices.

Emotional intelligence is one of the most powerful foundations we can build with young children. Research consistently shows that children who develop strong emotional literacy skills are better equipped for learning, relationships, and lifelong wellbeing. Here are a few tips on how early childhood educators can support this development every day.
I'd Love to hear what strategies you use.
They say we ‘just are there to play with their Children'' But do they realise the lifelong impact we have on their children?
People see the mess, the paint, the chaos (at times)…But they don’t see the future we’re helping shape every single day.
The role of an Early Childhood Educator is far more important than people realise.
The best educators don’t just teach children, they shape how children see themselves.
What would you add to this list⁉️
Behind every calm moment, every small win, and every child who feels safe, there is an educator doing invisible work with patience, care, and heart. The planning, co-regulating, comforting, encouraging, and believing in children often goes unseen, but it shapes lives in powerful ways every single day. 🤍

Supporting children through big emotions begins with calm connection and responsive relationships. When we create safe spaces, build predictable routines, and gently guide children in recognising and expressing their feelings, we help nurture emotional confidence, resilience, and a sense of security over time.
Sometimes the smallest moments like taking deep breaths together or simply sitting beside a child quietly can make the biggest difference. 🤍

When children experience big emotions, educators often become their safe place. Through calm connection, patience, and responsive relationships, we help children navigate frustration, excitement, sadness, conflict, and uncertainty in ways that support their emotional growth and wellbeing.
So much of this work happens quietly in the background and is rarely seen by people outside our profession, yet it is some of the most important work we do every single day. 🤍
Dancing is one of the BEST things we can do for young children's development?
When children dance, they're not just having fun, they're building essential skills across EVERY area of development.
Ultimately, dancing in early childhood education nurtures the whole child. It supports healthy bodies, strong minds, emotional wellbeing, creativity, and meaningful relationships all through something children naturally love to do. 💃🕺
