New year # New life
There are many pathways toward maintaining a healthy lifestyle and one of them is simply being in nature!
We instinctively know this but our time spent indoors has caused us to forget this important relationship. Nature has so graciously provided us with an abundant source of energy and nourishment for both the body and mind.

All what we need is a few minutes each day either just a walk on beach/ nature or gardening in your backyard!

Here’s wishing that in new year 2022 we create a more conscious planet by taking care of our mother nature🙏🏽

"Colour is the key to subconscious”

OUR body has seven major energy centres known as chakras; each centre is responsive to a different colour. The balance of the seven chakras activates healing by transmitting energy to the electromagnetic field around the body. There is an unique colour or energy vibration that either sedates or stimulates the stream of energy through a specific organ, causing a natural biochemical reaction.”
Ancient Ayurveda shares us the wisdom that certain colour foods should be consumed for each day of the week according to the planetary rulership of the day which brings good health and happiness to our lives!🙏🏽

Navratri- Traditionally associated with Goddess Durga and worshiping her nine incarnations, the festival holds significance in Ayurveda! Fasting during Navratri invokes the power of Shakti in your body, which is the ultimate detox for every woman 😇

It is celebrated twice a year–during the spring (Vasant) and fall (Sharadiya), the two major seasonal changes when our bodies become more susceptible to imbalances. During this seasonal shift, our Doshas experience an internal variation in the body, and if we take care of our food habits and lifestyle, we can easily improve our immunity and strength, whilst detoxifying ourselves- physically, emotionally and spiritually💕

The diet itself is endorsed by ayurveda, which explains that tamasic food items shouldn't be consumed because they harm the body in the long run. On the other hand sattvik food is recommended for this period, which is extremely healthy.

Wishing you all a very happy Navratri 🙏

Dhaniya / Coriander leaves are one of the most the most popular herb used in Ayurvedic cooking! Nothing beats the flavour of fresh herb from the kitchen garden, home grown one far superior to the shop bought one 🙌

It is also famous by the name Cilantro Seeds. Its Sanskrit Synonym is “Vitunnaka” means the one who helps to relieve agony / pain.

In Ayurveda, Dhanyank is Mutral (Diuretic), Jwaraghna (antipyretic),
Deepana (improves digestion)
Rochana (improves taste )
Grahi (useful in mal- absorption)
Hridya (good for heart).

Some important uses as home remedies of Dhanyanka (Dhaniya) are:-

Headache – Apply paste of Dhaniya leaves on forehead for 10 minutes .
Stomatitis (mouth ulcer ) – Apply juice of Coriander leaves over the ulcers or hold the juice of Coriander leaves in mouth for 5min .

Coriander leaves contain profuse amounts of vitamin A, besides vitamin C, vitamin E and the carotenoid class of antioxidants, which improve eyesight. They are also effective in healing conjunctivitis and macular and age-related degenerative disorders of vision.

Treats Liver Dysfunction:
The rich quantities of alkaloids and flavonoids in coriander leaves assist in curing liver ailments such as jaundice and bile disorders. Moreover, they also confer useful hepatoprotective traits, enhancing liver function and ensuring proper elimination of toxins from the body, via kidneys.

Definitely a symbol of wealth in our diets 🙏 @ Australia

The ‘Modak’ is Ganesha’s favourite food and it symbolises the attainment of the ‘Ultimate Bliss’.

Considered to be Lord Ganesha’s favourite, modak is a traditional sweet dumpling made of rice flour and coconut and jaggery filling.

The first reference to this traditional sweet made of rice dumplings filled with a coconut and jaggery mixture and sealed with ghee is found in the Padma Purana that dates as far back as 4th century AD.

Health benefits of modak
Constipation: The ghee used to make modak helps in rebuilding intestinal mucus lining and eliminating toxins

Blood pressure: The coconut filling has medium-chain triglycerides that protect the heart and keep blood pressure levels in check.

Cholesterol: coconut, along with dry fruits used in the filling, have plant sterols that help reduce bad cholesterol and boost good cholesterol levels.

Diabetes: Modaks have medium to low glycemic index and can be safely consumed by diabetics

Arthritis: The butyric acid found in ghee is a traditional therapy for reducing inflammation in every tissue of the body, more specifically in the joints

PCOD: Polycystic o***y disease is a hormonal disorder that causes enlarging of ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. the rice flour used to make modak stabilises blood sugar. Besides, rice contains vitamin B1, which helps reduce PMS (premenstrual syndrome) and sugar cravings.

Modak is also celebrated as food for “virya”, which means “vigour in the body and stability in the mind”

According to the ayurvedic texts, it is not a coincidence that the rose is associated with romance, because it balances Sadhaka Pitta, the subdosha of Pitta that governs the emotions and their effect on the heart. Sadhaka Pitta can go out of balance more easily in summer, when the hot, humid weather increases all aspects of Pitta dosha, the mind-body operator that governs heat, digestion, and metabolism in the body.

So there's a physiological reason that roses have been the ideal gift to express love and forgiveness for thousands of years. They literally soothe the heart and emotions. What may surprise you is that the rose also balances the mind. It enhances the coordination between Sadhaka Pitta and Prana Vata (the subdosha of Vata that governs the brain, head, chest, respiration, sensory perception, and the mind). Other properties are equally surprising.

The rose is cooling, yet it enhances agni, the digestive fire. This is a unique quality which makes it balancing for all three doshas. These medicinal properties are not lost on modern researchers, who are investigating the effect of the rose in balancing hormones and creating overall well-being. Essential rose oils used in aroma therapy are also being investigated for their antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-hemorrhagic properties.

Happiness, misery, nourishment, emaciation, strength, weakness, virility, sterility, knowledge, ignorance, life and death – all these occur depending on proper or improper sleep.”
– Charaka, Sutra, Classic Ayurvedic Text

Ayurveda considers restful sleep as important as a wholesome diet. It is an essential pillar for good health🙏
