Tuesday 22 April, Hillside dojo. Senpai Suraj Fernando, 3rd Dan takes the class. Twenty three members attended as Suraj took the whole class by himself as part of his journey to 4th dan later this year. Suraj is my longest serving senior, beginning his journey with us in April 1993 and manages our website www.goju.com.au. Well done Suraj you did a great job and set an excellent example for other seniors. This photo shows members practicing kihon ido, moving basics. S1

Last night at the Hombu dojo, our newest member, 15 year old Thusanth, discovered that learning how to perform mae geri in goju ryu is no easy task. This pic shows Thusanth practicing with the support of nidans Nathan and Steve. This was followed by detailed practice of kata Taikyoku. I am very pleased with Thusanth's progree since he joined us late last year. He is a valued member of our Shushin Kai family.

Thursday 18th December 2025 we held our last class of the year before taking our usual xmas and New Year break. One of our final acts of the year is to make the award of Student of the Year. This year we made the award to Brown Belt Ojas Gaddam from the Hillside dojo. Ojas started karate training with us in May 2021 at age 11 years. He earned his 1st Kyu Brown Belt at our recent grading, and is working toward his Black Belt in 2026. Ojas has worked very hard over the years and attended many extra classes at our Hombu dojo. His dedication, perserverence in the face of personal challenges and continuig growth as an exceptional young man is recognised by this award. Congratulations Ojas, from all your dojo family!!! S1

Thursday 18 December 2025 we held our final training night of the year, which included a grading for promotions. It was a super year for us as we promoted 8 of our members in Brown Belt grades. Next years Training Day and Black Belt promotions looks like a crowded day as these Brown Belts join several others to be promoted to Shodan Black Belts.
