Especially about the residency status. It can help you lower your taxes with a tax-free threshold.

While most international students are considered as residents for tax purposes in Australia but it is still a good idea to check your residency status with free ATO's tool.

Make sure you understand your tax obligations as penalties apply for late lodgement and incorrect information.

📢 The Australian government has substantially increased the visa applicant fee from $710 to $1600.

💰 This major increase means that prospective students will have to pay 125% more for a non-refundable visa application fee starting on July 1, 2024.

📰 In a media release by the Minister of Home Affairs, it was stated:
“The changes coming into force today will help restore integrity to our international education system, and create a migration system which is fairer, smaller, and better able to deliver for Australia.”

📈 The government plans to fund several initiatives with the increased fees, including:

FEE-Free Uni Ready courses for local students
Financial support for apprentices and their employers
Other migration reforms
❗ The move has been widely criticized by educational institutions, student associations, and industry groups.

🛂 The Temporary Graduate Visa fee has also increased to $1920, and the visitor visa fee has risen from $475 to $490.
