I'm really looking forward to facilitating this session for on 30 June - on New Financial Year Eve no less (and the night before LIV's Virtual Careers Fair).
This workshop has been designed to provide students and early stage graduates with some practical tools for recognising where commerciality is important and for developing your own commercial “nouse”. (Yes, those who know me, won't be at all surprised that we'll draw on some and strategies!)
Participants will have many opportunities to actively engage with the materials and other participants in the (virtual) room as we explore:
- using a business model canvas to map a business model on one page
- creating a plan to ensure that you can keep on top of the most important commercial issues relevant to your career
- how to put your plan into practice.
Learning outcomes:
On completion of this session attendees will have a broad understanding of what a business model is and access to a tool for analysing a business model (law firm or client) on one page with a view to identifying key commercial issues for further action or investigation.

The first 'pre release' cohort in www.LawStudent.Solutions Mental Fitness for Law Students finished up a couple of weeks ago, and one of the participants - the amazing Caroline Ashton - was kind enough to write about her experience for the Law Institute of Victoria's Young Lawyers blog https://lnkd.in/gSt4pXk.
We've learned so much from from the pre-release - and excited to be focusing over the next few months on getting to a proper launch in the second half of the year!
If you're a law student interested in participating in the next cohort, don't hesitate to reach out to Cath Nolan - and check out www.lawstudent.solutions for a growing store of resources for law students around study, research, technology, time management and more.
