Through finishing my book it’s taught me endless lessons that I’ll be able to take into business for many years to come.
But one in particular, that I wanted to share today, is that “Ideas From The Heart Don’t Need Editing”.
I’ve had days this year where words, characters and plots twists have poured out of me for this book.
And I’ve also had days where no more than two sentences have been analysed at least 10 times each.
You know the difference I noticed between these two days??
On one I’m actually focused on creating the thing that’s come through.
And on the other I’m focused on creating what I think works.
Now personally, I’ve found living up to "what I think works", fu***ng impossible.
I have so many conditions and stories about what works, that it makes writing a war.
Between my original idea and my rational mind.
So this year I decided to stop fighting wars....and just write.
Completely give up on chasing what works AND
Go after what’s come through.
Wholeheartedly creating the THING that I received.
And not making it about anything else.
Not making it more marketable.
Not making it more readable.
Not making it more personal.
And not making it make more sense.
None of that.
Just creating from the heart.
It’s a different way of doing things.
It’s certainly not for everyone.
But I can tell you, I’m convinced it’s for me.

1 Business Problem Can Have Countless Definitions.
Be very aware how you define a problem.
Because 1 definition can literally change how you go about running your business.
Here’s an example;
A talented staff member leaves
Based on what you observe you make that the problem is you didn’t manage them correctly.
So you go spend 1000’s of dollars learning how to become a better manager.
You set regular trainings, meetings and even schedule team dinners every month.
But despite implementing your new learnings and your greatest efforts.
Another talented staff member leaves in the next month.
Now if we go back to the start of this whole scenario and define “a talented staff member leaving” as “we hired the wrong person”.
You can see that the whole approach will change.
Neither is right or wrong, but I share this to make you aware that “how you define problems” is extremely powerful.

Being firm with your time at first will scare you.
And it will trigger prospects who don’t have boundaries themselves.
But whatever you do, don’t try to save what business relationships that want to fall.
Allow them to and move forward.
Remember in sales, you are the authority, the expert and ultimate decision maker on whether someone should do business with you.
This is how you serve your clients and yourself at the highest level.

Your Heart Doesn’t Exist ln The Same Arena As Your S**t
This is something my coach shared with me recently and it’s something I’ve constantly seen in sessions with clients over the last month.
You can either spend a lifetime unconsciously building businesses that are forever struggling and an uphill battle.
Or you can consciously build something that expresses your genius & what you love.
But be warned, the 2 don’t exist in the same arena.
In order to create one, you must leave the other.
In the book I’m writing at the moment, I’ve detailed, that the first phase of creating a business that you truly love is all about making the choice to.
First in choosing your heart, second in choosing to leave your s**t behind.
This phase requires embracing both sides, not half.
And in my experience, many want to have their heart but only to the tune of what they know.
They want the gold without extracting it from the turf they found it in.
But the truth is it just doesn’t work that way.
You can’t create what you love with what created your struggle.
In order to fully have your heart you must choose to leave your s**t behind 💩
