Here are some recent updates to the PTE exam:

Scoring updates
The PTE Academic exam has updated its scoring for the "Describe Image" and "Retell Lecture" sections. The new scoring process includes:

AI scoring: Oral fluency and pronunciation are scored using AI.

Human review: A human examiner reviews the content factor. This process aims to balance AI technology with human judgment.

PTE Core
Pearson has launched PTE Core, a new English language proficiency test for Canadian economic immigration visa purposes.

PTE Academic and SDS
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has approved PTE Academic for use in all SDS (Student Direct Stream) applications.

PTE retake policy
Test-takers can take the PTE test up to 12 times within 12 months. Test-takers can contact Pearson for an additional retake, but approval is rare.

Score reports
The PTE Academic score report now includes a Skills Profile, which shows students their language skill level and where they can improve.

Terms and conditions
The terms and conditions for the PTE exam were last updated in August 2024
