Curious Chefs at work!
Our Croc and Zebra friends have been whipping up a storm in the mud-kitchen, but... something has been missing!

What does it smell like?
Will creating our own herb garden unlock a new recipe book?
Will it enhance our imaginations?

LET'S FIND OUT!

Continuing an interest within movement of materials and the mud kitchen, Educator Bri brought in Sage, Mint, Parsley, Rosemary and Lavender for the children to create their own Herb Garden. We quickly noticed each herb carried a unique scent. Some soft, some LOUD. we could not stop sniffing.

We became intrigued as to how things grow, how we plant something and what our plants will need to survive.

We became an unstoppable team digging holes, and securing our plants in the ground and filling different mud-kitchen utensil's to collect water for our herbs! (an idea we were super proud of.)

How big will they grow?
I wonder what else they need to survive?
Can we include other real ingredients to continue furthering our play?

WE CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT!

This week outside in the sunshine,
We have shown curiosity and interest in builders.

To follow our interest, on Wednesday the children engaged in a highly focused, hands-on construction session using pool noodles, matchsticks, and pegs.

They eagerly explored the materials, discovering that the matchsticks could easily poke into the foam noodles.
This spark of curiosity led to a variety of "spikey" architectural masterpieces.

The children worked intently, positioning the sticks at different angles, balancing the foam bases, and clipping pegs onto the edges to expand their structures into three dimensions.

This experience is leading up to bigger projects with real tools!

Denim dreams came true today at The Hub Mayfield
for Jeans for Genes Day! 👖

We were seeing all sorts of denim as our amazing Educators and little legends rocked their favourite jeans to support this fantastic cause.
From classic cuts to quirky patterns, our denim game was strong!

Thanks to everyone who joined us in making a difference, one denim-clad smile at a time!

Ahoy there, mateys! ☠️
What a treasure of a week it has been.

This experience was child-led and it all started with Blue's swashbuckling pirate vest!
That vest sparked a grand adventure, transforming our ordinary morning into a high-seas escapade.
Around the table, little hands were busy drawing and adding feathers - creating our own style!
The air was filled with imaginative tales of sea monsters and buried gold, complete with booming
"ARRRR'S!" and "AHOY ME HEARTIES!"

It was a fantastic way to encourage storytelling and creative expression.

But the learning didn't stop there!
To conquer the mystery of the disappearing glue stick lids, we turned it into a clever matching game.
Each lid and base got a secret number, and the children had a blast finding the perfect match.
Not only did this keep our glue sticks fresh for future crafts, but it also added a fun, hands-on element to our fine motor skills practice.

ARRR, SHIVER ME TIMBERS - what a wonderfully quirky way to learn and play!

🦒 We had a special visit from Healthy Harold today at The Hub Mayfield! 🦒

Our children enjoyed an engaging and interactive session all about body safety. Through dancing, discussions and fun activities, they explored the importance of sun safety, recognising safe and unsafe situations, understanding personal boundaries, identifying trusted adults, and learning how to speak up when something doesn’t feel right.
The children were lucky enough to give Healthy Harold a pat to say goodbye!

Experiences like these help build children’s confidence, resilience and protective behaviours in an age-appropriate and supportive environment.

Wellness Update!

We love our educators so much, we just cannot stop treating them to all things sweet each 'Wellness Wednesday' at the centre!

Firstly, we were lucky enough to redeem a delicious coffee order from Praise Joe, a gift from one of our families, that was the perfect mid-week pick me up!

Then, educators were encouraged by Bri (our wellness supervisor) to enjoy a break and a sweet treat at our very own brownie bar - uhm... delicious!

We then turned to you! Our wonderful Hub families! To spread your kindness through letters of love. Each envelope, filled with your appreciation, gratitude and love, was carefully sealed and given to educators today.
Tears of joy, laughter, and heartfelt thank-yous from the educators to the children for their drawings and kind words flooded our centre.

Thank you all for continuing to support and love our staff!

(We hope you love our brownies! We were quite proud of our creations)

Today, we came together to raise funds and awareness for a foundation that is very close to our hearts. We wore pink and the Educators enjoyed coming together for a pink morning tea for The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

🌼🌸 Wellness Wednesday 🌸🌼
Here at the Hub Mayfield, not only do we look after our children, we nurture our educators too.

On Potato Day, our potatoes got dressed up in tasty jackets, adding a bit of flavour to our team and just like all the different toppings the educators brought to share, this showcased just how each one of us adds something to our community - warm, colourful, and complete! 🥔✨🤍

This week's shadow play was seriously cool! 😎

It all started with a simple chalk heart drawing on the concrete and a child covering it with her shadow - sparking so much curiosity!

The question was asked "how will you position your body?"
This struck some amazing poses while an Educator carefully traced the shadow outlines.

Some awesome discoveries:
Our shadows totally change depending on where the sun is and how we stand!
And the biggest 'wow' moment......
if you stand on a shadow - your own shadow seems to disappear! 🤯

So much fun exploring light, bodies and shadows together!
