ATMS CONFERENCE PART TWO
- INSIGHTS INTO MY OWN PRACTICE
Every day I’ll burn some Sage or purify the space with sacred plant resins or oils. I make sure the place smells beautiful to invite the good spirits in and keep the bad spirits out!
I may “divinate” to gain insight into a client, draw a card for their situation or ask for guidance by way of ritual.
I’ll often infuse numerology into the consultation, I have studied the Pythagorean system of numbers for over two decades. I love the numbers, they are a science in their own way.
I also like to overlay the shamanic models, to give clients a broader vision, an extra dimension to their insights.
And then before I prescribe and dispense the herbal medicines, I go back to the books.. no matter how many times I’ve used the herbs, and seen them work , no matter how much I trust my intuition, I make sure I’m on the right track.
The most important thing I took away from the ATMS BUSINESS SUCCESS CONFERENCE is it’s vital to stay connected, stay current, curious and evidence~based… but most important is
Being You… and Being True in everything you do… for that is real Success.

ATMS CONFERENCE- PART ONE
Last weekend I attended a two day conference, hosted by the ATMS, Australia’s largest professional association of Natural Medicine Practitioners , of which I am a fellow member, with a membership of over 20 years..
The event, was held in a fancy hotel, always fun, and centred around “Successful Business Practice”. It was a wonderful opportunity to be amongst smart successful and passionate people, in my profession, all healers in their own way, and I enjoyed it very much.
There was a lot of great information about Branding & Marketing, Building trust and Using AI …the way of the future, alas!
There was a lot I couldn’t relate to; automating systems, which give you more time to grow your practice, and basically minimise human contact.
The conference did make me reflect on my practice and my own unique approach.
Over the years I have developed a healing practice of breadth and depth… I realised I care deeply about my people & perhaps my practice is not conventional.. but it certainly is a practice with heart. 💙
I don’t use AI to give counsel, I hope I never have to.
I meditate before I see my clients, to get centred and grounded, and tune into the energy of the day. I’ll always check the phase of the Moon and often book my clients in as close as possible to the most potent phases, New and Full.
I often walk in the morning with Juno, my dog, and start thinking about the clients I am expecting , before they come in.
Sometimes I’ll pick flowers for them & start communicating with them in the astral , the realm of spirit and the imagining.
Sometimes I pray .. in the past I have used my drum to invite the ancestors into the room so they can be present and show me what I need to see, and how I can support this person.

The Medicine of Holidays.
Holiday Medicine is necessary, it prepares us for the change in frequency that comes with each new calendar year, and the next cycle around the Sun. It prepares us for the growth and evolution that comes with every passing year.
I love the Summer break, and the healing that happens in the threshold between the end of one and the beginning of another year..
Gatherings with family, tribe, friends and community are as old as the earth itself. Holiday traditions, Christmas and New Year rituals are anchors in belonging.
Slowing Down responding to the rest your body needs, catching up on lost sleep, addressing your “sleep debt”, allowing your own circadian rhythms to guide your day... are all therapeutic and necessary.
And then, finally, connecting to Nature in a deeper way. When nature feels us listening, she steps in closer.
The chorus of the Laughing Kookaburra becomes a private show, where you cannot help but smile and remember there is always something to laugh about.
Living with and communing with spiders and watching them create their wondrous webs. Their style, their intelligence and communication amazes me. Spider Medicine reminds me that we are all one and we are all connected.
And Now, we have the Medicine of Water; the element of purification, the down pours and heavy rains, which come with weather warnings, and become an opportunity to stay close to home, and huddle, and remember our vulnerability in these turbulent times on this evolving Planet Earth.
Each moment we are here is a blessing🙏🕷️🕸️⛈️🌈

BRAIN HEALTH 🧠
Super inspired and still assimilating all the wonderful knowledge from the ATMS HEALTHY BRAIN SYMPOSIUM held at The Hilton Hotel on Saturday.
Where to start.
It was not until the early 2000’s that research demonstrated that inflammation can cross the Blood/Brain barrier. Neuro inflammation became a thing. With this understanding it became clear that systemic inflammation, caused by the usual suspects, acidic diet, toxic lifestyle etc could affect things like memory, cognition and contribute to mental health problems such as Depression.
The good news is that an anti-inflammatory diet, and the wonderful “glymphatic” system clears toxins and waste from the brain and we can regenerate Brain and nerve tissue, and grow new brain cells throughout our life
HERE ARE SOME BIO-HACKS I TOOK AWAY FROM THE SYMPOSIUM:
Easy things we can do to improve our Brain Health, which can help to improve memory, address Brain fog, prevent Dementia and support our emotional health:
🌀 Exercise & Movement are by far one of the most beneficial things you can do for your Brain. Moving your body is not just about fitness, it is about healthy blood vessels supplying blood and oxygen to the brain, lymphatic circulation, and improving elimination. Here is what the Science said, for it to be most effective, exercise should be pleasurable… you have to enjoy it!
🌀 Connection, adventures, new experiences - all these things boost Oxytocin - Dance, Join a book Club (
Club), go somewhere new… this is evidence- based science,.. supported by some serious research and longitudinal studies.
🌀 Hydrate Your cells, drink plenty of purified water and Herbal Teas – hydration is essential for brain function and for detoxing the brain. Nettle Tea is a mineral rich powerhouse which is wonderful for supporting Brain hydration.
🌀 Maintain a Healthy Gut microbiome, Include Healthy Fats in your diet, Salmon tuna, sardines walnuts. Rest, get plenty of Sunshine, breath through your nose, get good quality sleep minimise exposure to EMFs.
🌀 Be positive, Share your gifts with the world. Fill your life with Fun, laughter Joy and Love.
HERBS FOR BRAIN HEALTH 🧠
Being a conference of Natural medicine there were a lot of studies citing Herbs for Boosting the Brain, Healing the Brain, treating and improving Dementia.
These include GINGKO BILOBA, BACOPA, ALSO KNOWN AS BRAHMI, ROSEMARY, CHAMOMILE AND GOTU KOLA, HOLY BASIL (TULSI), ASHWAGANDA, PEPPERMINT SAGE AND WOOD BETONY.
Throw Turmeric, Saffron, Green Tea and Cacao in the mix and you have powerful antioxidants that remove damage created from toxic substances, creating free radicals havoc, disease causing and preventable!
Oh let’s not forget the wonderful world of Fungi, namely Lion’s Mane Mushrooms … clinically proven to improve cognition and has worked a treat for my Peri-Menopausal moments of how can I forget this word right now?
