You worked towards it for months—or perhaps years.
You believed that once you reached the goal, you would feel more confident, fulfilled or certain about what came next.
Then you achieved it.
And although you were pleased, the feeling didn’t last as long as you expected.
That can be surprisingly difficult to admit.
But it doesn’t mean the goal was wrong or that your effort was wasted.
Sometimes an achievement gives you what you originally needed—and then reveals that your needs have changed.
Instead of asking:
“Why isn’t this enough?”
Try asking:
“What has achieving this helped me understand about what matters now?”
The goal may have completed one chapter without being responsible for defining the next.
Have you ever reached something you worked hard for and been surprised by how you felt afterward?
