🔬✨ That’s a wrap on Science Week! ✨🔬

Our week began with an exciting interactive incursion all about fizz! Students explored science through hands-on experiments, from fizzing ice blocks and dancing raisins to a spectacular erupting volcano. It was wonderful to see their curiosity come to life.

Our Kindy scientists had their own adventure, discovering bubbles, sound and movement across three fun-filled sessions. The giant bubbles were definitely a highlight, bringing big smiles and even bigger bubbles! 🫧

What a fantastic week of discovery, wonder and learning. We loved seeing our students embrace science with such enthusiasm and curiosity! 💙

Today we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption, honoured in our Church on August 15. This special day is when we remember that Mary our good mother, was taken into heaven to be with God. As a College, we reflected on the beauty of a life lived in faith and the promise of God’s eternal love.

May Mary’s example inspire us to walk with courage, trust and hope in God’s promise.

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning.” Fred Rogers

Walking past this little snippet of play in action today, it may have been easy to see some sticks and a hole, but listen to the story and there’s a whole lot more going on!

Students created a “super pit”, engineered tracks in and out of the site, and carefully transported their chosen items using trucks.

What was most impressive was the sustained engagement and conversation had about how and what this would look like!

🌈 What an amazing night at our Rock the Rainbow Disco!

The smiles, laughter and dancing said it all. The children had an absolute ball.

Thank you to Marcellin Connect for your creativity and organisation in bringing this wonderful event to life. We are so grateful for everything you do to enrich the experience of our students and families. 💙💛❤️💚🩷 Thanks also to our incredible staff who supervised the evening, all of our community members really make our little college tick and it means so much.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Interschool Cross Country 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Yesterday marked a significant milestone for our College as we participated in the Interschool Cross Country for the very first time.

Year 3 students across all participating schools were also competing at interschool level for the first time, taking on the 1km course with great determination and enthusiasm. With approximately 55 students in both the boys’ and girls’ races, the competition was strong and the atmosphere was exciting.

We are incredibly proud of all our students who represented our school today. They demonstrated courage, perseverance, resilience and excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. Most importantly, every student gave their best effort and embraced the challenge with a positive attitude.

Thank you to Mrs Duffield for all her work and for our parents who were able to join us to watch and who supported from a distance.

We were so honoured to be part of this year’s biannual Marist Conference in Fremantle, WA, welcoming Marist leaders from across Australia as they gathered to learn, grow and journey together as a Marist family.

Our Year 2 students beautifully performed a piece honouring the life of St Marcellin, alongside Odessa from Bunbury Catholic College, who danced in the role of Mary.

Our Year 3 students, the oldest, little people in our College, proudly welcomed delegates by presenting them with conference badges.

We are incredibly proud of our children for representing St Marcellin Catholic College with such confidence, joy and Marist spirit. 💙⭐
