šŸ† WHAT A NIGHT! šŸ†

Tonight we had the incredible honour of attending the NSW Business Awards as finalists.

Did we take home the trophy? No.

But the truth is, we didn’t need to.

As far as we’re concerned, we already won. 🧔

Fitness 4 Life has only been in business for SIX MONTHS, and tonight we were sitting in a room alongside some absolutely incredible and well established businesses, recognised as finalists amongst them.

Six months ago, we were just getting started, wondering if this was even something our Eurobodalla community would be interested in.

Tonight, we were at the NSW Business Awards AS FINALISTS!! 🤯

That alone is a phenomenal achievement and something we are unbelievably proud of.

But our biggest win isn’t an award.

It’s every client who has become stronger. Every person who has gained confidence. Every little victory we’ve been lucky enough to witness. Every person who trusted us with their health, their goals and their future.

It’s building a business that we genuinely love and seeing it become something bigger than we ever imagined it could be in such a short time.

So no, we didn’t need to win tonight.

We already did. šŸ†šŸ§”

And after only six months, we cannot wait to see where this journey takes us next.

A huge congratulations to all the businesses who took home an award tonight. There were so many incredible businesses in that room, and we were genuinely humbled just to have Fitness 4 Life recognised alongside them. 🄰

As we always say…

If I could make ONE form of exercise compulsory for every woman over 40… it would be strength training.

Not walking.
Not yoga.
Not Pilates.

Yet when many women reach their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, they often turn to these as their main form of exercise.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re all great forms of movement.

But there’s something your body desperately needs after 40 that they just don't give you enough of: LOAD.

Your muscles need it.
Your bones need it.
Your future independence needs it.

We lose muscle as we age. Menopause accelerates changes to our bones. And unfortunately, a daily walk alone isn’t enough to fight that.

So walk. Do Yoga. Do Pilates.

But for goodness sake, ladies… pick up some weights too.

We specialise in strength training for adults over 40, including seniors and NDIS participants. As an added bonus, we are mobile which means, we come to you!

And there’s a reason we’ve been named finalists in two separate business awards within our first six months of operating here on the South Coast. šŸ†šŸ†

We know how to make strength training safe, achievable and appropriate for your body, your abilities and your goals.

What should you expect after a strength training session with us?

ON THE DAY:
You’ll probably feel physically tired…after all, you’ve asked your muscles to do some work!

But you should also leave with that lovely post-exercise boost; more energy, a better mood, a sense of achievement and that little ā€œlook at me go!ā€ feeling that can carry through the rest of your day.

🌊 Ride that happy wave!

THE NEXT DAY:
You should know that you exercised.

You might notice your legs when you get up from a chair, or your arms when you reach into the cupboard.

But you shouldn’t be so sore that it interferes with your day.

We build your strength gradually and teach you techniques to help reduce and manage muscle soreness afterwards.

Because being so sore that you struggle to move for the next few days isn’t the goal of strength training with us.

The sweet spot?

šŸ‘‰ ā€œI can feel that I exercised yesterday… and I’m quite proud of myself.ā€

You should still be able to walk, work, go shopping, do things around the house and get on with your normal day.

It’s simply your muscles giving you a gentle reminder:

ā€œWe did some work yesterday.ā€ 😊

That’s what we’re looking for.

Strength training should help you feel stronger and more capable in everyday life, not stop you from enjoying it.

We specialise in training people over 40, including seniors, as well as NDIS participants.

Why don’t we run 8-week or 12-week challenges?

Because strength after 40 doesn’t have an end date.

You don’t strength train for 8 weeks, tick a box and say, ā€œGreat, I’m strong now. Done.ā€ šŸ˜‚

Strength is something we build…and then keep building and maintaining as we get older.

Muscle mass, bone strength, balance, mobility and the ability to keep doing everyday things independently all benefit from ongoing strength training.

So we’re not interested in getting you ā€œsummer readyā€ in 8 weeks.

We’re interested in helping you stay strong enough to carry the groceries, get up off the floor, climb the stairs, travel, garden, play with the grandkids and keep doing the things you love for as long as possible.

There’s no finish line for strength after 40.

Because we’re not training for 8 weeks.

We’re training for life.

So remember, your future self is watching šŸ‘€

šŸ’ƒ When your NDIS participant requests the Macarena… there’s only one small problem.

She knew the Macarena.

We, clearly, did not. šŸ˜‚

So today’s session came with a slight role reversal, our client became the trainer and attempted to teach the two of us how to shake our booties and remember which arm goes where. 🤣

Was it graceful? Absolutely not.
Were we coordinated? Also no.
Did we get moving, laugh a lot and have a great time? 100%.

Sometimes supporting someone to move means putting down the dumbbells, turning up the music and being willing to look completely ridiculous. šŸ˜‚

And if stepping outside our comfort zone helps one of our clients step into theirs, then you’d better believe we’re doing the Macarena. šŸ’ƒšŸ•ŗ

And the best part? We’re mobile, so we bring the fun (and apparently our questionable dance moves šŸ˜‚) to you!

Suzanne and I believe exercise doesn’t always have to look like exercise.

Sometimes it looks like this… šŸ‘‡šŸ˜‚

ā€œI’m worried I’ll be too sore to move tomorrowā€¦ā€

We hear this all the time.

So many women avoid starting strength training because they’ve had a bad experience in the past. Maybe they joined a gym, went to a bootcamp, or followed an online workout that left them barely able to walk for days.

They assume that’s what strength training is supposed to feel like.

It isn’t.

At Fitness 4 Life, we don’t believe that leaving you unable to sit on the toilet or walk up the stairs is a sign of a successful workout.

In fact, it’s often a sign that the session wasn’t matched to your current ability.

Our role as qualified trainers is to find the right balance.

Every session is carefully tailored to you. We progressively challenge your muscles enough that they have a reason to become stronger, but not so much that your body spends the next three days trying to recover.

Will you feel it the next day?

Usually, yes.

You might notice your muscles are a little tired or a little tender. That’s completely normal and simply means your body is adapting.

But you should still be able to:
āœ”ļø Walk normally.
āœ”ļø Get out of a chair.
āœ”ļø Go to work.
āœ”ļø Look after your family.
āœ”ļø Enjoy your day.

Strength training should build your confidence, not make you dread tomorrow.

The best exercise program isn’t the one that leaves you exhausted. It’s the one you can safely and consistently do week after week.

That’s how real strength is built.
That’s how balance improves.
That’s how bones become stronger.
And that’s how you stay independent for years to come.

If fear of being ā€œtoo soreā€ has been holding you back, we’d love to show you that strength training doesn’t have to hurt to work.

ā€œI have osteoporosis. My bone density is declining. There’s nothing I can do.ā€

This is one of the biggest myths we hear. Of course there is something you can do! I’m sure that your doctor and/or specialist has even told you about it.

Your bones aren’t lifeless structures.

They’re living tissue.

Every day, your body is breaking down old bone and building new bone through a process called bone remodelling.

Special cells called osteoblasts are your body’s ā€œbone builders.ā€ Their job is to lay down new bone tissue and help strengthen your skeleton.

The amazing part?

They keep working throughout your life.

As we age (especially after permenopause and andropause) the balance changes. Bone is often broken down faster than it can be rebuilt, which is why bone density declines.

But here’s the good news…

Your bones respond to the demands you place on them.

When you perform the right type of strength training, your bones receive a signal that they need to become stronger. This encourages your osteoblasts to get to work building new bone.

Can you completely reverse osteoporosis? Not always.

But research shows that many people can slow bone loss, maintain bone density, and even improve it with the right exercise program.

It’s never too early to start building stronger bones.

And it’s rarely too late to make a difference.

Well, shucks. šŸ˜‚

We’ll try our absolute hardest to help you through menopause… but apparently there are some things even an expert personal trainer can’t fix…but we will still try šŸ¤ŖšŸ˜‚. šŸ‘ļøšŸ‘‚šŸ˜‚

ā€œI already do strength trainingā€¦ā€

This is something we hear all the time.

ā€œI walk every day.ā€
ā€œI do Pilates.ā€
ā€œI do yoga.ā€
ā€œI go to group fitness classes.ā€

Firstly… that’s fantastic! Keep doing those things.

Walking is excellent for your heart and overall health.
Yoga and Pilates can improve flexibility, balance and mobility.
Group fitness classes can be a great way to stay active and motivated.

But here’s the important question…

Are you actually following a progressive strength training program?

Being active and strength training are not the same thing.

Strength training means progressively challenging your muscles over time by gradually increasing the resistance, difficulty or workload as your body adapts.

It’s planned.
It’s measured.
It’s individualised.
And it’s designed to make you stronger.

That’s why doctors, specialists and physiotherapists recommend strength training specifically—not just ā€œexercise.ā€

The goal isn’t simply to move more.

The goal is to become stronger.

Because stronger muscles help protect your bones, support your joints, improve balance, reduce your risk of falls and make everyday life easier.

So if you’re walking, doing Pilates, yoga or attending group fitness classes…

Keep going!

But don’t assume you’re already doing strength training.

The two aren’t always the same.

Message us or call 0484 025 027 and we can talk you through how we will build strength for you.
