Mini Tigers had an important rescue mission today, saving the dinosaurs! The dinosaurs were taped onto the glass, and the children had to carefully peel and rescue each one.
This simple hands-on experience supported fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and problem-solving as the children worked out how to free their dinosaur friends. It also encouraged curiosity, persistence and lots of imaginative play! đź’š

Today at Mini Tigers, we got creative with a pasta mosaic!
The children used their beautifully painted pasta pieces and carefully stuck them onto contact to create their own colourful mosaics. This hands-on experience encouraged creativity, concentration and fine motor skills as the children peeled, positioned and pressed each piece into place.
Through this activity, the children explored colours, patterns, textures and design while developing hand-eye coordination and expressing their own ideas.

We’ve had a busy morning at Mini Tigers, getting creative and preparing for tomorrow’s exciting experience! The children painted lasagne sheets using a variety of colours, exploring different brush strokes, textures and techniques.
Through this hands-on experience, the children developed their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity and self-expression. They also explored colour recognition, concentration, decision-making and sensory experiences while engaging in open-ended art.
We can’t wait to see what we create with our colourful lasagne sheets tomorrow!

Today the children explored their creativity and imagination through playdough. Some children pressed and shaped the playdough into different forms, while others enjoyed rolling it out and experimenting with different ways to manipulate the dough. One child used the playdough to practise creating their name, supporting early literacy skills and letter recognition.
Through this experience, children were developing:
• Fine motor strength and coordination
• Hand control needed for writing skills
• Creativity and imagination
• Problem-solving and concentration
• Early literacy skills and confidence in recognising their name
Playdough is a wonderful open-ended resource that allows children to learn through hands-on exploration, creativity and play.

A huge thank you to one of our wonderful community member for generously donating another large box to Mini Tigers. The children were absolutely thrilled, and their imaginations quickly took over as the boxes became a cubby house and so much more.
Simple resources like cardboard boxes provide endless opportunities for learning through play, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, gross motor development, and imaginative thinking. It’s amazing how something so simple can spark so much joy and meaningful learning.
Thank you for supporting Mini Tigers!

What an exciting surprise!
Over the weekend, our Sea-Monkeys hatched! This morning, the children eagerly gathered around the tank and were so excited to discover tiny Sea-Monkeys swimming around. There were lots of smiles, questions and conversations as we observed their movements and talked about how living things grow and change.
This experience encourages curiosity, observation skills and an appreciation for caring for living things, while supporting children's understanding of life cycles and the natural world.

Today our Mini Tigers explored painting on our perspex easel using both their fingers and paintbrushes. The children practised letter formation, made lines, shapes and marks, while strengthening the small muscles in their hands and developing hand-eye coordination.
Some of our Mini Tigers challenged themselves by using their fingers to write letters, while others confidently used paintbrushes to create colourful artwork and express their creativity.
One of our Mini Tigers then excitedly ran over to our cardboard art easel and asked to make handprints! This spontaneous experience sparked even more creativity, allowing the children to explore textures, colours and self-expression while creating lasting memories.
Experiences like these support early school readiness by developing fine motor skills, pre-writing skills, creativity, confidence and a love of learning through play.
Children's Voice:
"Look, I made my letter!"
"I want to make handprints!"
"My hands are all painty!"

After reading The Old Frangipani Tree at Flying Fish Point and exploring its beautiful message of family, community and belonging, we have been incredibly fortunate to be gifted five frangipani cuttings to dry and replant, along with one established frangipani tree.
Over the last week, we have been carefully observing our frangipani cuttings as they have dried out and begun to produce new leaf buds. The children have loved checking on them each day, noticing the small changes and learning that growing something beautiful takes time, patience and care.
Our next step is to pot our frangipani trees into their new homes! This hands-on experience teaches responsibility, patience, an appreciation for nature and an understanding of how living things change and thrive over time.
A heartfelt thank you to our generous community member for this thoughtful gift. We can't wait to watch our Mini Tigers frangipanis flourish and become part of the memories we create together for many years to come.

Today Mini Tigers explored a simple pasta-cutting experience that quickly grew into something much bigger!
As the children snipped and cut the pasta, they strengthened their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and scissor control. They also discovered different textures, experimented with problem-solving, and used their imaginations to transform the pasta into ingredients for our outdoor kitchen.
Children's voices-
"I'm cutting spider webs!"
"Can you see the redback spider?"
"I'm making spaghetti soup!"
"I need to cut it into little pieces for my dinner!"
"Can I make pasta for everyone?"
Through open-ended play, the children showed creativity, cooperation and confidence as they followed their own ideas and learning journey.
