🌟 Makers & Shakers Beyond: Making a Difference in Our Community 🌟

This Term 3, our Makers & Shakers Beyond students have been busy drafting and leading projects that give back to the Lindfield community—both within our school and beyond.

Makers & Shakers focuses on social justice and welfare initiatives, empowering students to create positive change through small but meaningful actions.

Our Stage 4 group launched The Cookie Boyzzz, baking and sharing cookies with their cohort while using surveys to measure wellbeing. The result? A remarkable boost in student wellbeing after enjoying a free cookie!

Meanwhile, our Stage 5 group organised the Lindfield Green Cleanup, conducting a thorough blitz on rubbish in Lindfield Village Green. They were surprised by the number of cigarette butts collected from our community park, highlighting the importance of keeping our spaces clean.

We are incredibly proud of our students’ dedication and enthusiasm in making a real impact. Together, through thoughtful actions, we are building a stronger, kinder community. 💙

From the classroom to Australian Parliament House!

Do you know a Year 5 or 6 student with a passion for art?

We’re looking for creative kids whose artwork could feature together with many others as part of a large-scale projection on the Parliament House façade.

We are asking students to show us what makes their corner of Australia special. This can include people, plants, animals, landscapes or special locations that shape everyday life for young people across Australia.

If you have a Year 5 or 6 artist in your family, or know someone who does, please encourage them get involved!

Artworks will form part of an animated projection that will be on display in early 2027. This projection celebrates 100 years of Parliament in Canberra by showcasing children’s artworks from all around Australia.

🎭 On Tuesday, 15 September, Greenhalgh Theatre transformed into a vibrant showcase of talent as students from Lindfield College, Lindfield Public School & Beaumont Road Public School took the stage for a truly spectacular celebration of dance! 💃🕺

This event was part of the —a partnership dedicated to enriching the experience of every student from Kindergarten to Year 12. Together, we create opportunities no single school could offer, ensuring our students transition confidently from primary to high school as part of one connected community. 🤝

The night began with a tech rehearsal guided by Lindfield College’s Year 11 Entertainment students who expertly managed lighting and sound under teacher Jack Kirkpatrick’s direction. After rehearsal, everyone headed to the Level 4 courtyard for a delicious sausage sizzle dinner hosted by our Leadership Team! Then, as families gathered and anticipation filled the theatre, the curtain rose for a showcase that truly celebrated creativity and collaboration.

Highlights included:
🔥 Energetic REDed dance troupes from Lindfield College & Lindfield Public School, plus dynamic groups from Beaumont Road PS
🩰 Year 12 HSC Dance student Tamar’s original composition “Five Rooms”
🌊 The Beyond Dancers’ stunning contemporary piece “Sand” choreographed by Jessica Rigby

Opening remarks were delivered by our Principal Ben Rekic and LPS Principal Megan Lockery, while BRPS Assistant Principal Josh Gadsden and our DEL Craig Warner, were in the audience.

None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of our relieving Assistant Principal Lauren MacLeod, whose dedication ensured the event ran smoothly.

🌟👏 Huge congratulations to our amazing Business Manager, Deb Smithers, who has just been recognised by the NSW Department of Education for her outstanding years of service!

On 15 September, Deb received the Metropolitan North Directorate Executive Director’s Award – a prestigious honour celebrating her incredible contribution to public education. Joined by our Principal, Ben Rekic, and Director Educational Leadership, Craig Warner, Deb was presented with this special award by Executive Director Cathy Brennan at an event at the Department’s Head Office in Parramatta.

This award speaks volumes about Deb’s dedication to Lindfield College, her passion for creating better opportunities for our students, and her commitment to public education as a whole. We’re so proud to have her as a key member of our team!

Congratulations, Deb – thank you for all you do! We appreciate you so much! 🎉💙
