💙 Learn 💛 Play 💙 Shine 💛
This week at Learn Play Shine, we enjoyed a special Father’s Day-focused playgroup.
We read “I Love Dad” from the Very Hungry Caterpillar collection, discussing the special things we love about our dads and the important people in our lives. The children also enjoyed creating their own Father’s Day cards to take home.
Other favourite play-based activities this week included hammer tap, where children practised hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills; rice pouring, which encouraged scooping, pouring and sensory exploration; and pretend cooking with loose parts, where children used tongs, tea strainers, bowls and cupcake cases to create imaginative meals using yarn, pom poms and feathers.
To finish our session, we went on a little excursion to visit the P&C Father’s Day Stall, where the children had the opportunity to purchase a gift for their dads.
It was a lovely morning full of creativity, imaginative play and celebrating the special dads and father figures in the children’s lives.
