The 2025 illuminate Finals Day Awards brings together the ideas, energy, and impact of an extraordinary year, and shines a light on what’s possible when young people are trusted to lead.

Get Ready for the illuminate Finals Day 2024 (and yes, in 2025 - we know)!
After an incredible year of delivering programs across Australia, we're thrilled to invite the top teams from each challenge to our Finals Day! This quick-fire, four-hour event will bring together the brightest young minds from across the country for an unforgettable experience.
We can't wait to see what these talented students will create on Wednesday! With fifteen teams from nine different schools, spanning from Margaret River and Mandurah in the west, through Adelaide and Mount Gambier, Craigieburn, Canberra, Bathurst, Sydney, and the Central Coast of NSW, it's going to be an exciting day of innovation and creativity.
Stay tuned for updates and cheer on your favorite teams! 🎉
We're so excited to be collaborating with the Launceston Chamber of Commerce in association with the University of Tasmania to present the illuminate Community Challenge for Year 6 students across Launceston in March 2025.
In shaping where Launceston is going in 2050, it's critical we include the voice of young people to inspire us but also prepare for their role to lead and drive change over the next 25 years. We cannot wait to see what students develop through the experience and are excited to see registrations are already coming through!

Since starting out with 38 students from four Launceston schools back in 2011, we've been passionate about empowering young Australians, especially in regional and remote locations because we have always believed that your postcode should not define the learning outcomes offered.
And as we sat down and went through all of the numbers for 2024 - we discovered that we have now inspired and impacted over 25,000 students in our face-to-face experiences! While here is a lot that can be delivered online, we love getting into schools and communities across Australia, inspiring young people to address the biggest challenges that they see - and know that this is best done in person.
And now - to the next 25,000 students!

Time to bring on 2025!
We've been spending some time refreshing and reflecting on everything we have been doing as illuminate Education Australia, and are excited for an even bigger 2025, taking us to new regions, working with new collaborators and helping even more young people address the biggest problems they see in their community.
But as we've reflected and looked back, we have gone through every evaluation form to take the student feedback on board - and see how we have been tracking around the growth of students in key skill areas that underpin them to be confident, creative and capable. We've grabbed out a couple of the highlights below to see how many students rank themselves as strong confidence (9 or 10 out of 10) at the end of a program compared to at the start - and you can see, there are critical skills that are being developed in each and every learning environment we deliver!
Let's go! 🚀

Thank you Hornsby Girls High School for another great week!
The teams have again blown us away with their creativity, and the amazing solutions they have developed across the week, all backed up by business cases, financials and incredible marketing materials.
Their ideas have included protecting the elderly from being scammed, teaching critical thinking skills to ‘sense check’ online content; using tech to assist people with memory loss; and tools to teach and encourage up-cycling of clothing and combat fast fashion.
Congratulations to top three teams for the week:
Team 15 - CommuniTask 🏡
Team 16 - Bubu Fashion 👚
Team 01 - Second Mind 🧠
A huge well done to all teams for making it so difficult for our judges to choose the winners!

Hello from St Edwards College!
This week we're helping Year 10 boys here look at how they can better the way we use technology in schools - by reducing the bad effects and increasing the good - and they are blowing us away with building chat bots, wireframes of applications, websites and so much more!
It's awesome to also have Ajay with us from Nepal on a Rotary International Exchange, especially as two years ago this week we were both in Mysuru for UNLEASH - and are back together to share knowledge about inspiring young people and design thinking that can be implemented in both of our contexts.
I can't wait for Friday and their final presentations.

We were absolutely blown by everything that the Central Coast (NSW) students achieved in our illuminate Enterprise Challenge over the past week, presented with the amazing support of the University of Newcastle, Central Coast. The teams explore the topic of aging well, looking at how we stay connected, healthy, getting quality care within our means and much much more - and are so encouraged by how the students stretched themselves to show their confidence, creativity and capability!
For those eager to hear how you all went in the final rankings - here they are!!
