Lara Secondary College

Lara Secondary College is a Years 7-12 co-educational school established in 2003.

Our vision is to create a safe and dynamic learning environment where students are empowered to achieve their full potential through living our values: Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Respect. Our community is located in a semi rural setting to the north of Geelong with easy access to both Melbourne and the Surf Coast. Our long awaited Secondary School opened in 2003 and has grown to a stable

population of just over 800 students, with students in Years 7 - 12. Our local community now has access to outstanding facilities with the completion of our Middle Years Centre which includes open learning spaces and specialist facilities. Our new buildings have enabled flexibility in our teaching approach to further enhance teacher practice to meet the needs of the 21st century learning. Our high quality facilities are matched by the passion of our teaching and support staff who are dedicated to supporting every student in achieving their very best. As a community of learners we place emphasis on developing student connectedness and engagement through our broad range of innovative curriculum - the result of extensive research to find 'best practice' across Australia and the globe.

Our Senior Boys 1st XV represented Lara Secondary College with pride, teamwork and determination at the Rugby Victoria Gala Day.

NAIDOC Week at Lara Secondary College
This year’s NAIDOC Week celebrates 50 Years of Deadly! – marking the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week and recognising the Elders, organisers, activists and artists who have carried the movement forward and kept Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures at its heart.
As we return for the first week of Term 3, we’ll be celebrating with a range of activities across the College:
📚 Visit the Library to explore a display of books and resources featuring First Nations authors, illustrators and perspectives.
🎨 Enter the Library Colouring Competition for your chance to win a $30 voucher.
✍️ Create a written or visual piece exploring what it means to carry culture forward—whether that’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture or your own cultural heritage. A $30 voucher will be awarded in each year level.
🎵 Listen out for our bell music throughout the week, featuring both established and emerging First Nations artists.
We encourage all students to get involved as we celebrate the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Over the past four weeks, Miss Pitcher’s Literacy class has had the privilege of visiting Respect Aged Care. Through conversations, shared stories, and plenty of laughter, students and residents have built genuine connections and learned from one another. It is safe to say that some beautiful bonds were formed and many treasured memories were created throughout the month.
