Bass Valley Primary School Welcome to our OFFICIAL page. Bass Valley Primary school is located in a rural setting 120 kilometres from Melbourne.

At Bass Valley PS we believe everyone has the right to feel safe; have a sense of belonging; experience success in meaningful ways so we can "Be Our Best!" We have a current enrolment of 250 students, although this varies during the year due to our highly mobile population, both into and out of the school. The quality of teaching and learning provides opportunities to enable students to achieve th

eir full potential in a supportive and engaging environment . The daily focus is on literacy and numeracy with students working in individual, small group and whole grade groups. We provide a strong social skills program which promotes respect, resilience, resourcefulness, responsibility and friendship. We value the active involvement and support of parents and community members in delivering a broad range of learning experiences. Students have access to a large range of extra curricula activities such as pushcarts, robotics, screen printing, woodwork, bike repairs and equestrian events as w ell as a large range of sporting activities. Senior students have the opportunity to develop leadership skills in a range of positions and to organise fund raising and activities both for the school and outside agencies. The school is well resourced and our facilities include modern and well appointed learning areas, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, a computer lab, art room, heated swimming pool, gymnasium, cooking centre, vegetable gardens, orchard , breakfast club and environmental wetlands area. The school is serviced by an extensive bus network.

Ducklotto Fete Parents & Friends Meeting

Dear Parents and Friends,

We are inviting you to a meeting to discuss how you can help make Ducklotto Fete a huge success.

The fete will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, have some fun and raise funds for our school. We are looking for parents, carers, friends and anyone in our community who would like to get involved.

At the meeting, we will:

discuss ideas for the fete
talk about what needs to be organised
allocate roles
hear your suggestions and ideas
work out some initial plans and next steps

Date: Monday 31st August
Time: 9.15am
Venue: Staff Room
Morning tea: Provided ☕

You don't need to have any previous experience—just bring your enthusiasm and ideas!

We would love to see as many parents and friends as possible. Come along, enjoy some morning tea, share your ideas and help us make the Ducklotto Fete a fantastic event for everyone.

Bass Valley Hits It Out of the Park:
6 Students Named in Victorian Softball Squads!

We have incredible sporting news to celebrate at Bass Valley Primary School.

Following intensive selection trials over several weeks, 6 of our talented students have been selected for the School Sport Victoria (SSV) U12 Victorian Boys and Girls Softball teams. They will head to Newcastle this October to compete against the best young talent in the country at the National Softball Titles.
Congratulations to Rylee McMillan, Ellie Kovacevic, Kalani Knaap, Aria Tangohau, Spencer Sunderland, Carmichael Potter.

What makes this achievement truly remarkable is that none of these students have ever played competitive softball outside of our schoolyard. Their raw athleticism, determination, and sportsmanship stood out among many hopefuls state-wide.

National Titles Selection Breakdown:
Victorian U12 Girls Team: In an extraordinary result, 4 Bass Valley girls secured spots in the final 12-player Victorian squad. That means our school makes up a third of the entire state team!

Victorian U12 Boys Team: 2 Bass Valley boys were selected as official team emergencies (2 of 3). They will continue training alongside the state squad in the lead-up to Newcastle, ready to step onto the diamond at a moment's notice.

Honours List & Legacy:
A massive congratulations to all six selected players—your hard work and grit have paid off. We also want to give a heartfelt shout-out to the students who put themselves out there and trialled but didn't quite make the final squad this year. Stepping up to trial at a state level takes real courage, and your effort made our entire school community proud.

These latest selections officially bring our school's total to 20 Bass Valley Primary School students selected for SSV U12 Victorian Softball teams over the past 5 years. For a small community school, it is a testament to the incredible sporting spirit, enthusiasm, and talent nurtured right here on our school grounds.

Join us in wishing our athletes all the best as they fine-tune their skills and prepare to represent Victoria—and Bass Valley—on the national stage this October.
