Family Maths Night at St Agnes’

What a fantastic opportunity to showcase our approach to teaching mathematics at St Agnes’ and give our families a window into the why behind what we do.

Our teachers shared the science of learning underpinning our approach, helping parents understand cognitive overload and how we support students to transfer learning from working memory into long-term memory through fluency and daily review. They also shared some of the rich mathematical tasks we have recently introduced across the school.

We were incredibly proud of our teachers. Their deep knowledge of the science of learning, combined with their passion for mathematics and commitment to our students, was on full display. They are such talented, passionate and knowledgeable educators.

A huge thank you to all the families who came along, engaged in the learning and supported our school community. What a great night!

Great to see so many students turning up bright and early for athletics practice! There was plenty of enthusiasm and energy as our students worked hard on developing their skills and perfecting their techniques ahead of the HOLT Sports on August 24th.

A huge thank you to Mr Kost for organising the sessions, our generous teachers for giving up their time to coach and support our students, and our wonderful parent volunteers for getting involved.

One more session next Wednesday! Go St Agnes’🔥🏅

⭐️ A PROUD DAY FOR ST AGNES’ ⭐️

Today was an incredibly proud moment for our school as we welcomed more than 50 teachers, leaders and principals from across the Southern Region to showcase the exceptional teaching and learning taking place at St Agnes’.

St Agnes’ was selected to host ‘Connect in the Field’, an opportunity for schools to open their doors and share exemplary teaching and learning practices. It was a huge honour for our school and our staff.

Our guests visited all nine of our classrooms, where they saw high-quality, consistent teaching in Literacy and Numeracy from our outstanding teachers, complemented by the expert and targeted support of our brilliant LSO team.

Following the classroom visits, Amanda shared the incredible journey St Agnes’ has been on and the work that has taken place over the past five years to build the strong teaching and learning culture we have today. Needless to say, this was an incredibly impressive presentation.

Perhaps the greatest reflection on the day came from a senior MACS consultant, who described what they observed as:

“The best example of strong and consistent instructional practices I have seen in 40 years of education.”

An incredibly proud moment for our staff, students and entire school community, and a fitting celebration of the learning environment that has been so carefully developed at St Agnes’ over the past five years.

We couldn’t be prouder. 💙

The wet weather may have forced us indoors, but it certainly didn’t stop our first before-school athletics training session of the year!

A fantastic initiative by Mr Kost and our staff saw students working on their shot put and triple jump techniques this morning as they begin preparing for the HOLT District Athletics Carnival in just a few weeks.

It was wonderful to see so many students arriving early, eager to prepare themselves. A huge thank you to our teachers for volunteering their time to coach and support our students.

100 days of Prep: 100 days Brighter🌟

Our Prep students enjoyed a day full of fun, taking part in a range of exciting 100-themed activities. They spent time with their Year 5 buddies, undertook activities with their parents and feasted on a big shared lunch in the hall.

We finished the day with a whole-school assembly in front of a packed house of proud families and friends.

We are incredibly proud of our youngest learners and all they have achieved in their first 100 days. We can’t wait to see what the next 100 days has in store for them!

Thank you to our families for their support of the day and to our wonderful Prep teachers for making it an experience to remember!

We launched our new senior school Business and Economics unit of work in style today through the engaging Mini Boss incursion!

Students stepped into the shoes of young entrepreneurs as they designed, created and sold delicious smoothies, while exploring key economic concepts including budgeting, pricing, supply and demand, and profit. It was a fantastic hands-on opportunity to apply their learning in a real-world context.

We can’t wait to see our students continue to develop their entrepreneurial thinking as they dive deeper into Business and Economics throughout the term. Keep an eye out for our ‘Shark Tank’ projects later in the term. A fantastic start to an exciting unit of learning!

It was great to see our Year 6 leaders launch St Agnes’ Coding Club last week!

Students explored Scratch, learning to code, solve problems, and bring their ideas to life.

We’re especially proud of our Year 6 leaders for creating this opportunity and sharing their knowledge. Their leadership sets a fantastic example.

We can’t wait to see Coding Club grow throughout the rest of the year 🖥️

Yesterday we celebrated our Social Justice Day, reflecting on the Catholic Social Teaching principles of Human Dignity and Solidarity. Through our own version of Socktober, students learned that many children around the world don’t have access to basic sporting equipment or toys and instead use creativity and resourcefulness to make their own.

Our senior students put their problem-solving skills to work, creating soccer balls from recycled materials, while all students spent recess playing games using these homemade creations instead of their usual sports equipment. It was a fun and meaningful way to build empathy, gratitude and an understanding of the challenges faced by others.

To wrap up the day, staff took on our Year 6 students in a spirited netball match using one of the students’ handmade sock balls, before we all gathered to cheer on the Socceroos as they secured their place in the knockout rounds! 🇦🇺⚽

Thank you to our students and staff for embracing the day with such enthusiasm, and to Mrs Gorski and our social justice leaders for their work in preparing for the day.

We wish all of our families a safe and relaxing holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 13 July.

Congratulations to our Year 4 students who celebrated their First Eucharist this weekend. It was a beautiful occasion as they received the Eucharist for the first time and took another important step in their faith journey.

A sincere thank you to Father Alan Fox for his ongoing guidance and support of our parish and school community. Thank you to Mrs Gorski and Mrs Law for their dedication and hard work in preparing our students and families for this significant milestone.
