Over the past two weeks, young people in our YEPP program have been visiting FutureFIT, receiving advice and a supply of fresh threads to kickstart their careers in. FutureFIT is a collaborative program between Ready Set Australia and Big Group Hug. FutureFIT operates from Big Group Hug’s Tarneit Hub, offering free wardrobe styling and interview-ready clothing to young people facing financial hardship. Youth Employment Pathways Program (YEPP) participants on a tour of Citywide Service Solutions last week, hearing from workers in the parks and gardens, traffic management and civil construction departments.

With each tour the Citywide team put on for our YEPP cohorts, they show such care and passion in highlighting the diversity of careers within the company. We’re thrilled to have such dedicated partners for the program, and we hope to see some of the current participants undertake placements with Citywide in coming weeks.

We are very proud to have Mohamed Semra, Mayor of City of Maribyrnong as a guest speaker at our 25th Anniversary gala dinner on 10 September!

Mohamed is mmvllen program alumni, and has spent the past decade working through Endeavour Youth Australia to inspire and support diverse young people to develop their leadership potential.

A Maribyrnong Councillor since 2024, Mohamed was elected Mayor in November 2025 and is the first Australian Mayor of Sub-Saharan African background.

Essendon Fields Perfect Events Australia

A huge thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia Sunshine for their generous donation to our Multilingual Energy Champions workshops, running over the next few weeks in Melbourne's west.

Every young person who takes part will go home with a bag of practical items to help keep them and their families warm this winter — while they learn about weather resilience strategies for Melbourne's cold months.

Most of the families in the program are newly arrived and renting older housing stock: tiled floors and single-glazed windows, homes that are difficult and expensive to keep warm. What Bunnings Sunshine has given us are things people can use straight away, no drilling or landlord permission required.

This one means a lot to us, because it builds on a relationship we've had with the Sunshine store for close to ten years. We started our Meet the Manager program with the Sunshine team, where we facilitated local students to meet with staff, break the ice and get prepared for in-store work placements.

Multilingual Energy Champions is a project mmvllen is running in partnership with Victoria University, Melbourne Australia, made possible by the support of the Greater Melbourne Foundation.

We are beyond thrilled to have Jessica Watson speak at our September 25th Anniversary gala dinner.

At age 16, Jessica Watson (OAM) became the youngest person to sail solo non-stop and unassisted around the world.

Jessica sailed back into Sydney Harbour 210 days later with over 100,000 people on the foreshore to greet her.

She was named Young Australian of the Year in 2011 and received an Order of Australia Medal in 2012 for services to sailing and as a role model to Australian youth.

This will be a wonderful celebration of the power young people have to achieve tremendous things ... And the importance of backing them in their endeavours.
