The Brisbane Montesssori School P&F is a parent-run community group dedicated to providing social events, parenting resources, and school fundraising activities. The Parents and Friends Association (P & F) at Brisbane Montessori is a dynamic group designed for parents, caregivers and friends to support the work being undertaken by our children in the classroom. Each parent and caregiver who joins
the school community is encouraged to share the gift of their time or talent in a way that best suits. We believe that the success of our school is dependent on the active involvement of all members of our school community. Your first point of contact with the P & F will be through your child’s classroom with your classroom parent representative. Please ask your class director to introduce you to your classroom parent representative if you have not already been introduced. The P & F has an elected committee who co-ordinate the support we as adults offer to the children. Current P&F Activities. The P & F is actively working on projects that offer practical assistance to nurture the learning environment and projects that develop the school community. As members of the P & F we expect you are willing to assist the school. Of course, we understand the ways in which you will choose to do so depend on your family circumstances and talents. Active involvement with the P & F is also a great opportunity to meet other parents, find out more about Montessori education and make a contribution to building our school community. Montessori education provides the school with a model for learning, the P & F provides us with a way of doing this as parents. We actively support other parents in their journey to know and understand Montessori education and to be more confident in their responses to the daily trials of parenting by providing opportunities to share our own experiences. We support our children by:
* Ensuring their learning environment is maintained. o Making materials for the classrooms
o Maintaining a wish list of things for the classrooms
o Financial assistance for special projects such the Infant and Toddler garden
* Strengthening our community by modeling appropriate behaviour and through our involvement in such projects as:
o Elouera Garden Project,
o Craft Circle,
o Supporting school events.
* Gaining our own understanding of Montessori education by:
o Attending workshops and J & D,
o Participating in discussions,
o Further reading.
