My name is Dhanu Amarasinghe and I'm the owner/operator of Norwest Family Day Care (FDC), a brand new family day care service registered with the Baulkham Hills Family Day Care Scheme. The service is operated out of our brand new home in Glenwood, close to Norwest Business Park. I have completed various qualifications in child care including a Diploma in Children's Services. Having worked in the i

ndustry for over 7 years, I decided to operate my own family day care service with the main intension of providing care for my daughter. My aim is to provide all children attending Norwest FDC with the best possible care, love and imaginative learning experiences as a start to life. I am passionate about teaching and watching children learn through play. Every child deserves to have the best opportunity to learn and express their creativeness in a nurturing environment to lay a solid foundation for their future. I believe in following the children's interests, feeding their minds with information about a subject they are interested in and enjoy then building their knowledge from there. Reduce, reuse and recycle is what we have been learning this month.
The children learnt the concept of reusing and recycling by making a puppet theater using an old cardboard box. Children had lot of fun playing Red Riding Hood using the figures they made themselves.
