4G has had a fantastic start to Term 2, actively participating in lessons and diligently working towards their goals. On Friday, May 12th, we were delighted to welcome mothers and other special visitors to our open classrooms. Together, they painted pots with their children and enjoyed student-decorated cupcakes. In English, 4G has begun exploring the new text Ned Kelly & the Green Sash. The students have been enthusiastic about learning the history of the Kelly Gang and the bushrangers. Additionally, in visual art lessons, they created beautiful stained-glass windows using coloured cellophane to commemorate the fallen soldiers on ANZAC Day. In mathematics, students have been learning about number factors and exploring strategies to master their times tables. We've had a strong start to Term 2 and are excited about the upcoming Year 4 Zoo Snooze and all the new learning opportunities ahead.

Congratulations to our Rouse Hill Dinos who won the first round of the Premier's Debating Competition yesterday against Schofields Public School. They debated the negative side for the topic 'That all primary school kids should have to do homework in the holidays'. Keep up the great work team!"

KE students have explored sounds and letters during our phonics sessions, and we have been focusing on the letters ‘I’ ‘f’, and ‘r’. We have been very excited to meet the new characters Iggy Insect, Fifi Flamingo and Rosie Rabbit. KE have also been reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘The Big Book of Bugs’. We went outside for an insect walk and looked for insects and where they were located, then created sentences. In mathematics, KE have been focusing on 2D shapes and their attributes and how we can share them into two equal parts. We have loved creating them out of paddle pop sticks, natural materials and drawing them. KE have had a wonderful start to Term 2!

2J are really enjoying all the hands on maths lessons they are participating in. We are also super proud of our learning about suffixes and prefixes in InitiaLit lessons, and reading our RAD books to improve our comprehension and fluency. The soggy playground hasn’t stopped us developing our hand/eye coordination during Be Skilled Be Fit sports lessons on a Tuesday.

Students in 2G have had a busy, yet exciting start to Term 2. As part of our Writing program, students have enjoyed reading the text Koala Ark. We have also been working hard to plan and write our first persuasive text about why we should help koalas and how. 2G came up with some brilliant and engaging ideas in their texts. This term we have begun participating in the Be Skilled, Be Fit program for sport, which students found enjoyable. We have been very creative in 2G, as we prepare for the upcoming Stage 1 Art show. Students have been exploring a variety of different art mediums to test blending different colours. Below you can see a sneak peak into what you will see at the Art Show. Well done 2G for such a wonderful start to Term 2 and I look forward to our future learning this term.

It has been an exciting week of learning for Kindergarten students at RHPS. KL celebrated Harmony Day and the theme 'Everyone Belongs' in beautiful traditional costumes and in orange. We learnt about the Luna New Year and made Chinese Dragons for the Year of the Dragon. KL worked on their Easter Hats at home and proudly presented them at the Easter Hat Parade. We had a special visitor leave paw prints outside the Kindergarten classrooms and chocolate eggs in our Indigenous Easter baskets. Thank you, Easter Bunny!

KH have had a wonderful start to Kindergarten. The students have worked hard to learn the routines and expectations of their first year at school. KH have enjoyed learning about patterns in mathematics and in their everyday world. KH are learning to identify words that rhyme, particularly while exploring and participating in the exciting world of story books. Exciting News from 1V! Our Year 1 students have settled into their new classroom wonderfully. They're making new friends, exploring new adventures, and thriving in Year 1. We've been busy learning about narratives and the elements of a story, using prepositional phrases to enhance our writing. We've been mastering new sounds to help us become better readers and writers. In maths, we're diving into measurement, exploring concepts of area and length, and learning to be flexible with numbers, discovering how smaller numbers fit into larger ones. We're also sharpening our skills in skip counting, making maths even more fun! In science, we're exploring the fascinating world of digital technologies and their impact on our everyday lives. From smartphones to computers, we're learning how these technologies help us in various aspects of our lives. Well done, 1V! Keep up the fantastic work!

As part of our English studies in 2C, students have begun practicing their reading fluency during small group activities. Fluency pairs involves students reading a passage to each other and providing feedback to each other about their reading. The goal is to be able to read in the same way that we talk, and 2C is well on their way to achieving that goal!

Kindergarten students have kicked off Term 1 with great enthusiasm! We are genuinely impressed by how seamlessly our young learners have adapted to school life and classroom routines. KA students have delved into the exploration of letters and sounds, focusing particularly on the letters 'm' and 's'. Throughout these phonics sessions, KA have been introduced to characters such as 'Maggie Mouse' and 'Sammy Seal', engaging in activities like sorting pictures based on their initial sounds. In mathematics, KA students have immersed themselves in learning about numbers, patterns and sorting objects based on different attributes. They practised the correct formation of numbers and worked on recognising dice dot patterns. KA particularly enjoyed copying and continuing repeating patterns using both objects and pictures. Visual arts lessons in KA involved creating an artwork inspired by the story of ‘The Kissing Hand’ by Audrey Penn. Students crafted the protagonist, Chester the Raccoon, by using cut-and-paste techniques. It's been a fantastic few weeks of learning in KA, with our excitement growing each day!
