Blessed Paws & Franciscan Hearts 🐾

As a Franciscan community, Mount Alvernia College is proud to honour the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. Sunday 4 October marked 800 years after his message of peace, humility and care for creation first resonated, and his example continues to guide and inspire our College community today.

This morning, students and staff gathered in La Foresta for a joyful Blessing of the Animals Liturgy, led by Sister Catherine White. Our beloved pets joined us for a beautiful celebration of the special bond we share with all living creatures. 🐶🐱

As we conclude the Season of Creation, we reflect on St Francis' timeless call to live with kindness, serve others, nurture peace and care for our common home.

A heartwarming morning that reminded us of the Franciscan values at the heart of our College community. 💚

During two days of study support, students made the most of dedicated revision time, completed practice exams, and strengthened their exam strategies with guidance from our alum Academic Mentors.

A highlight of Term 3, Cultural Festival brought our College community together to celebrate creativity, talent and House spirit through a vibrant program of activities and competitions.

The festivities culminated in the much-anticipated House Battle performances, where students dazzled inspired by Barbie, High School Musical, Annie, The Greatest Showman, Saturday Night Fever and Pitch Perfect—all embracing this year's theme, 'Gubbio Goes to Hollywood'. 🎥

OUR HUMAN EDGE IN ACTION 😃 At Mt A, we encourage our students to discover and develop their Human Edge by embracing the qualities that make them uniquely human: creativity, curiosity, empathy, courage and authentic connection.

That's why we're thrilled to celebrate two current students and one alumna, whose writing has been published in the latest edition of Olive Magazine.

Created by a teenager on the NSW Central Coast, Olive inspires young people to embrace life beyond screens with its powerful message: "Real life is happening without a filter."

Through thoughtful articles and real-life stories, the magazine encourages teens to engage deeply with the world around them offline, a vision that strongly aligns with our Human Edge values.

We are incredibly proud to see our students' voices contributing to a publication that champions authenticity, meaningful connection and the confidence to share your perspective with the world. 🌏

BAKERY LANE👩‍🍳 Our Year 10 Workplace Skills and Hospitality Certificate students recently put their learning into practice, combining their talents to plan and deliver a successful morning tea event for staff.

From developing a menu and creating promotional materials to marketing the event, preparing the food and presenting it to guests, students took ownership of every stage of the process. This hands-on experience allowed them to build valuable industry skills while working collaboratively as a team. 🤝

The result? A delicious morning tea and a wonderful showcase of creativity, organisation and professionalism. 🧁

Congratulations to all the students and staff involved. Your teamwork, dedication and hospitality truly shone! 👏
