A contemporary Franciscan education for the leaders of tomorrow.

Mount Alvernia College has provided high quality education in the Franciscan tradition for young women for more than 50 years. The Franciscan values of love, simplicity, joy and respect for all creation are interwoven in the life of the College and these values are actively promoted in all aspects of the school community, whether it is in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the music centre or in the various outreach programs which the College supports.

A MT A LEGACY 📣 This year, we are incredibly proud to be represented in our very first QDU Grand Final debate, with Ava, Claudia, Maeve and Meredith from 8.1 taking the stage on Wednesday night.

Their dedication, determination and outstanding teamwork throughout the season have earned them a place in this historic moment for Mount Alvernia College. We couldn't be prouder of what they have achieved, and we can't wait to cheer them on as they compete in the Grand Final. 👏

A special thank you to Amaeh, our 2025 College Captain, and Emma, our 2026 Debating Captain, whose commitment, passion, and countless hours of coaching have helped guide and inspire this team throughout the year. 🫶

From student leaders mentoring the next generation to students achieving at the highest level, this is what a true Mt A powerhouse looks like.

STUDENT VOICE FOR CHANGE 🌏 Our Year 8 students recently showcased their passion for protecting our common home at the Sustainability Expo, the culmination of their Reflection Day learning and advocacy projects.

Inspired by the College’s Sustainability Statement and Laudato Si’ Action Plan, students explored environmental issues close to their hearts, researched solutions, and worked collaboratively to create displays that educate, inspire and encourage action. 📣

The Expo highlighted not only their creativity and critical thinking, but also their commitment to living out the Franciscan values of respect for creation and service to local and global communities. 🌿

We are proud to see our students using their voices to care for our world and contribute to a more sustainable future. 💚

✨ GARDEN PARTY JOY ✨Our Franciscan value of Joy was certainly on full display at our recent 70 Years Garden Party.

As the sun set over La Foresta and the lights began to twinkle, parents, carers, alumnae, staff and friends gathered to celebrate a remarkable milestone in the life of Mount Alvernia College. The evening was filled with laughter, conversation, music and meaningful connections, creating a wonderful sense of community and belonging. 🫶

Seventy years of memories were shared, new friendships were formed, and stories of past generations reminded us of the strength and spirit of our College community. 🥰

We're still reminiscing about this special evening and feel incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate 70 years of faith, learning and connection. Here's to the memories made and the legacy that continues to grow. ✨

CHAMPIONING COURAGE 🦁 In our Year of Courage, we were thrilled to welcome former Queensland Firebirds and Australian Diamonds star Gabi Simpson to Mount Alvernia College.

Through her New Courage Workshop, Gabi challenged our students to lean into discomfort, recognise their strengths, and pursue what lights them up.

Her message was simple but powerful: “Courage is like a muscle. We strengthen it by use,”- Ruth Gordon.

Thank you, Gabi, for inspiring our students to be brave, back themselves, and focus not just on the outcome, but on how they show up each day.
