A contemporary Franciscan education for the leaders of tomorrow.

Mount Alvernia College has provided high quality education in the Franciscan tradition for young women for more than 50 years. The Franciscan values of love, simplicity, joy and respect for all creation are interwoven in the life of the College and these values are actively promoted in all aspects of the school community, whether it is in the classroom, on the sporting field, in the music centre or in the various outreach programs which the College supports.

CELEBRATING 70 YEARS 🎥THE 1980s

As we celebrate 70 years of Mount Alvernia, we’re proud to share the next chapter in our journey - the 1980s.

A decade of bold growth, fresh vision and vibrant energy, the 80s saw the opening of the Francis Wing, bringing classrooms, music, home economics and art together in one inspiring space. With new spaces came new possibilities.

Defined by colour, creativity and a strong sense of community, the 80s helped shape the spirit of Mt A we know and love today.

Take a step back in time and relive the decade that set the foundation for so much of what followed. 😀

FAITH IN ACTION 💛 Over the past few weeks, our students have stepped beyond the classroom and into the heart of our community, embracing opportunities to serve, connect and advocate.

Our Year 12 students have generously given their own time to support Rosies, an outreach supporting those experiencing homelessness, loneliness and social isolation. More than anything, Rosies is about presence: offering a friendly face, a listening ear and genuine human connection.

In these quiet, powerful moments of conversation, our students are living out our Franciscan values, showing compassion, dignity and care for all. We are so proud of the way they are putting faith into action, reminding us that even the simplest act of kindness can make a profound difference.

FCIP ROCK SYMPHONY | LATIN FIESTA 💃Across three unforgettable nights, the Franciscan Colleges Instrumental Program (FCIP) Rock Symphony – Latin Fiesta lit up the San Damiano Centre with standing ovations and an electric atmosphere celebrating the power of live music.

With a phenomenal 150-piece orchestra and 80-voice choir from Mount Alvernia, Padua and St Anthony’s, the performances were truly breathtaking. Joined by talented guest artists Jon Eggleton and Mandy Woodend, along with outstanding past and present student soloists including Mt A College Captains Niamh and Monica, the stage came alive with energy and passion. 🎶

From Ricky Martin to Santana, the vibrant program had audiences on their feet – especially a crowd-favourite Conga that had the whole hall buzzing!

Rock Symphony’s Latin Fiesta was a spectacular celebration of talent, dedication and community! Congratulations to all staff and students involved. 👏🏻
